the two types of vehicle are cars and trucks, with every vehicle being a subclass of one of those two. a jeep is a truck. a motorcycle is obviously a car. a boat is a truck. an airplane is a car and a helicopter is a truck. trucks are cars, interestingly enough, and cars are a specific type of chair

The waiter: And what would you like today young man?
⚠️ Despite all the hype, chatbots still make terrible doctors. Out today is the largest user study of language models for medical self-diagnosis. We found that chatbots provide inaccurate and inconsistent answers, and that people are better off using online searches or their own judgment.

This is because a statistical model of word frequency is not a useful tool for modeling the complex interactions of the human body
the primary reason rightwingers will never control culture is because everything they do is hinged upon it being a reaction to the broader culture. the TPUSA half time event would not exist without it being a representation of their grievences

FAMU can't use the word Black on anything posted around campus related to Black History Month, to stay in compliance with Florida state laws against DEI. Black students can't use the word Black at their Historically Black College during Black History Month.
The community college classes I tutor for are straight up just harder than the equivalent classes I took at a fancypants liberal arts college. Same material but they do a lot more work
Related hot take RE: the students at my community college - on average they work *much* harder than the students at the university on the other side of town.
Source: TA at said university, student at said university (2 degrees), community college prof 15+ years.
My extremely hot take, as a community college faculty member who generally teaches 5 history classes per semester, is that I could totally do any history superstar's job but none of them could do mine.

Whilst we're on the subject of shocking living things, did you know police departments routinely shock human beings with tasers until they die and chalk up their deaths to a fake medical condition they call "excited delirium" that was invented by taser companies to absolve themselves of liability?

Jesus Christ. DHS has held this guy in the hospital handcuffed to a bed and under constant guard for over a MONTH without ANY warrant or even ANY steps taken towards putting him into the removal system!

The biggest barrier to the widespread adoption of renewables, is the fact that the richest, least intelligent, most self-important, fashiest 50 dudes in the US, wasted the low interest rates of the 2010s investing in monkey jpegs instead of solar cells and battery production.🤡
"Solar energy is anticipated to be the world’s main source of energy by 2050" hell yeah

They do not have ANY awareness. They can't— no state, no memory, is stored in the neural network. There is just normal code that keeps track of a bunch of tokens and scores and feeds them into the LLM. They can only be "aware" insofar as any program could be "aware". Correct me if I am wrong here!
LLMs are capable of certain forms of introspection and have really good theory of mind. They have increasing levels of situational awareness (which is making it difficult to test them because they know they’re being tested!) I personally don’t think they’re conscious but it’s not a settled question.
