Jew. Mostly leftist. Queer. Most people refer to me with the pronouns "he/him" and I acquiesce in this.
Text without character limits is politically wholesome, especially with short video dominating other platforms

"If anything, the gay wool fashion show should make us think not about the good fortune of the few rescued rams but about how animal farming systematically, routinely, and often violently exploits the reproduction of all the animals it encounters."
Two weeks ago, Grindr put on a fashion show of wool from "gay" rams rescued from slaughter. The media and the Internet swooned. But this feel-good story is a window into the dark role of forced reproduction in animal agriculture.

The Internet Loves These “Gay Sheep.” The Real Story Is Much Darker.
A much-hyped fashion show with wool from “gay rams” obscures the brutal reality of an industry that exploits sheep sexuality at every turn.

NYT reporting that it's now unclear the two National Guard members were killed

They are serving no purpose whatsoever in DC. I am skeptical of any sustained effect on violent crime from the federal deployment in DC but if there is any, it would be from federal law enforcement and not from National Guardsmen standing around
Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.

Maduro and most of his cohorts view the U.S. military threats as a bluff, according to a source familiar with senior Venezuelan government officials...Maduro believes that the only way the U.S. can oust him is by sending troops to Caracas, the person said.- WSJ

The Fifth Circuit and the Eleventh Circuit are both quite conservative but they are very different things
Two Republican-appointed judges on the 3-judge panel:
Eleventh Circuit affirms $1 million sanctions award against Trump attorneys, led by Alina Habba, for frivolous "racketeering" lawsuit against Hillary Clinton (among many others): storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

This is generally true, that ideological impact on judicial voting increases at the appellate level, but it's hard to know what to make of this data because litigants do a lot of forum shopping for these challenges
District court judges are engaged in a bipartisan project of [forgive me] actually calling balls and strikes. Republican circuit judges are largely going full-tilt partisan.

In the spirit of description, not judgment: participating in mainstream Jewish life in the United States normalizes Israel. Israel is home to 45% of the world's Jews and its Jewish community is closely tied to ours; American Jews visit and immigrate there and Israeli Jews visit and immigrate here

I don't think law can or should be entirely divorced from politics, but it's weird how some people have taken a decision ostensibly about the meaning of a single statute as being a sort of comprehensive vindication of their policy views and metaphysical commutments
"gender ideology is anti-gravity nonsense that only the desperate, the deluded and the double-dealing grifters still believe": just in case you were still wondering quite how consumed with hatred are Hadley Freeman and The Sunday Times.

This is obviously incorrect
Republican Senator Mike Rounds said Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a call to senators, confirmed the so-called 28-point “peace plan” was actually a Russian wishlist and is “not the administration’s position”. Nor is there any threat to cut off weapons or intelligence to Ukraine.

Amazing
A reporter asks if Mamdani stands by calling Trump a fascist. Mamdani starts to give a delicate answer.

Trump (smiles, pats Mamdani's arm): "That's OK, you can just say yes. It's easier. I don't mind."

Is there any prospect that Jared Polis would actually do this????
NEW: Colorado’s county election clerks (majority Republican) implore Gov Polis (D) not to release Tina Peters to the Trump administration. Their joint letter says it would be a slap in the face to clerks who endure threats due to Peters’ election rigging conspiracy theories.

I don't understand what "Hegelian" is supposed to mean in that sentence
This week’s scorecard of German Idealism in legal documents:
Kant 1
Hegel ?

Left: Hunter Biden motion for default judgment

Right: Judge Smith’s dissent in Texas redistricting case

(Smith’s reference is obviously meant to be negative, but given the tenor of the dissent, how to score?)

Also, it's not just a due process issue, you can't even murder people who have been validly convicted of a crime
1) There were interviews. Fox didn't air them.
2) Due process isn't just for people we think are innocent. It's for everyone, even when we think they are guilty.
3) The US benefits from countries observing the traditional laws of the sea, and has every reason to set that example.
Cotton on Trump's boat strikes: "Use common sense. If any of these had been boats full of fisherman or refugees, CNN would've already been on the ground & interviewed all their families & told their stories. We can be confident all of these strikes have been against cartel-based drug traffickers."

"But its headline-grabbing LGBTQ+ figure requires some clarification: It is based on a survey of 181 volunteer respondents, with limited participation from Orthodox students, making it impossible to know how precisely it reflects the entire population of aspiring rabbis."
A new study finds 51 percent of current rabbinical students identify as LGBTQ, reflecting major shifts in American Jewish life. Educators say queer rabbis bring empathy, resilience, and leadership at a time of rising challenges.
