When the president was calling all Somali immigrants "garbage" who "come from hell" and "contribute nothing" to America and therefore needed to go "back where they came from" did you ask him to "stop the rhetoric," Tom?
Homan: "I begged for the last two months on TV for the rhetoric to stop. I said in March -- if the rhetoric doesn't stop, there is gonna be bloodshed. And there has been. I wish I wasn't right. I don't want to see anybody die."

The most inflammatory rhetoric by far in all of this on TV and social media has come from Tom Homan, Greg Bovino, Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller and Donald Trump. bsky.app/profile/atru...

When was the last time you heard a law enforcement leader refer to an going action as a “theater” and to begin a “draw down”. It equates Minneapolis to Afghanistan. And that this is a military operation in hostile territory.
Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down

In theater. So they think they’re at war.

I guess the plan is to intimidate people by making them look like the best ska group of 2026.
I'm starting to think the Trumpist mastery of propaganda is failing them. The DHS agents posing this way makes it look like they're ashamed of themselves.

You know that trope "the media is liberally biased"? Imagine if this were two white GOP Congressmen. It would be on blast for weeks across all the legacy media outlets.

Disturbing video but well documented frame by frame and clearly shows evidence at trial that will be devastating against any attempted self defense or doing their job line of argument.

This is a terrific piece of rhetorical construction that also happens to be a very good point. A lot of us have been heartened by the courage and integrity so many Minnesotans have shown over this past week, in the face of intimidation and spiteful violence.

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

We know that famous American ideal, where the government has a right to shoot you dead because of “rhetoric.”
Bovino: "When politicians, community leaders, & some journalists engage in that heated rhetoric we keep talking about, when they make the choice to vilify law enforcement calling law enforcement 'Gestapo' or using the term 'kidnapping,' that is a choice & there are actions & consequences."

O'Keefe looks at these observers through his lens, which *is* paid and (attempted) organized agitation. He cannot fathom the widespread anger and passionate feeling of community, only how it must be what he tries to do but on a massive scale. It's a form of jealousy and projection.
It's the PTO moms and spreadsheet dads and other random-ass Minnesotans concerned for their neighbors. There is no one central organizing org, just a ton of people who give a shit. It's both beautiful that it's happening and laughable that anyone thinks there's some broader apparatus at work.
James O'Keefe says he's never seen anything so organized as the anti-ICE movement, observers--he seems to think this term is code--everywhere he goes. Who is paying for it??? he demands to know. It's like he can't even imagine people caring for one another.

You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

Amazing thread on Minnesota resistance infrastructure.
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

What authority does ICE have to arrest or detain citizens who witnessed a homicide?
Per this report ICE has detained several witnesses
ICE attempted to order local police from the scene of the Minneapolis shooting, but the police chief refused and instructed his officers to preserve the crime scene.

I've been wondering about this in the very "liberal" interpretation of stand your ground laws. Absolutely seems like it should stand for masked and not identifying feds?
“Arizona Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes said during an interview that residents could fire upon ICE agents who are masked if they feel they are in danger due to the state’s laws on self-defense.”
