On the 15th of December this year, Aotearoa New Zealand passed the 2.5 year mark for Self-ID.

As we always said, there have been zero issues arising from this. Not a single incident recorded formally or informally, not a whisper of a problem.

The anti-trans activists lied to everyone.

Yeah... As a Māori ex Labour voter I don't believe for a second he's gonna be good for Māori, just look at his behaviour over the years to TPM and his treatment of Wāhine Māori in Greens, particularly Tamatha Paul but also Maramara around her straight white men statement. #nzpol

English isn't my wife's first language, but she's lived in UK 20+ yrs. This morning, at a carol concert, I learned she has been singing that "Christ, Arse Saver" is born during 'Silent Night' the whole time. "Because he saves our arses, yes?"

Luxon and Hipkins both agree that there is no need for an inquiry into the Police.

Any person not personally implicated in this vile affair can clearly see that the NZ Police are utterly and systemically rotten and need a thorough clean out from the top down.

I've been doing a bunch of media about Australia's social media ban for under 16s this week.
NZ looks likely to follow.
Before we copy-paste a ban, here’s what actually matters (imo) 👇

Also very happy to see Arts Access Aotearoa win this award. It's been great working with them on this project, resources I know as an arts practitioner will be useful.

If you're a Deaf/disabled (broadly defined) artist (also broadly defined) I recommend checking them out: tahahotu.org.nz

Patriarchy taught a lot of dudes that all they needed to offer was financial security, and they are very mad to realise that these days women aren't (fully) dependent on marriage to achieve financial security, and that's why they want us to aspire to be tradwives
"Men need to spend money to get laid!"

Meanwhile, just the other day...

Get this book into your mits, quickly people!
Was fantastic to be at the launch last night, hear from those involved in its publication & witness some glowing praise for Laura’s writing, from Pip Adam.
So stoked to be holding a copy of Laura’s first novel.

Striking over workload, safety, pay, staffing and the coherence and sequence of change is industrial, not “party-political”. In Aotearoa the legal test is the purpose of the action, not whether the government’s policy settings form the backdrop.

Damn, I read Judith's letter! I'll leave the politics to others, but, lord, the Govt spending stuff is REALLY BAD! I'll try and keep this short.
First up, this bare-faced lie. The countries in the pink circle have a similar-sized economy to NZ. Govt spending is a lot higher in all but one . [🧵 1/n]

If we’re looking to prevent sexual violence then there’s a whole lotta things that need to change, men’s attitudes and behaviours towards women and children being the most obvious, but things like this will make a huge impact for those at risk of hurting others.
