Hey chat is it bad when the gov tells you you’re not allowed to question their decree on who is and is not deserving of human rights and consideration in their ability to participate in society
It is literally my job to question not only whatever ruling by whatever court I like, but also every other bit of the law that happens to interest me. Additionally - and for everyone else - there's Art 10 EHCR, which makes it not only my job but also the law that I can, y'know, question the law.

I have good intelligence that the Government was as surprised at the Supreme Court's decision as everyone else was. Shabana Mahmood will have known that - incredibly ugly for her to try and smother criticism because she likes the outcome.
The right way for Mahmood to respond to the substantial and substantiated criticisms of the Supreme Court decision is to address them.

Too much sci fi assumes advanced body modification tech will mean fewer visible trans people because many cis people can only imagine us valuing passing. Like not only will the future hold far more radical forms of gender expression, gender aside: people are gonna have tails, horns, and robot legs.

Update: they have now covered it. But not really. The story is not that twenty thousand people showed up for trans people. The story is that some statues got daubed with graffiti. Ragebait for the right, in other words.
This is still the only mention it has received on the BBC News website. TWENTY THOUSAND PEOPLE turned up with only a couple days' notice, but for BBC News it's a mere afterthought. Meanwhile, their video of a few dozen transphobes celebrating the removal of our rights still has pride and place.
