Enough is enough. I just saw this clanker run a train crossing and narrowly avoid a collision with a Metra train. Who knows what would’ve happened.

Okay, here's the story of George de Hevesy vs the Nazis! I really do love telling this story.

First, some background: George de Hevesy was a Hungarian-Jewish chemist, but he spent most of his career post-1920 attached to the Niels Bohr institute at the University of Copenhagen, in Denmark. (1/n)

In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

Honestly think that if you pulled twitter from the App Store and shut it down it would fuck up the entire right wing ecosystem at that point. Like the entire media apparatus would fall apart.

a government can just be top-to-bottom scheming viziers except the monarch - whose life of dissolution, god-mocking arrogance, and desperation to be seen and loved for his finery have made him into a hollow, senile shell of a man long before his time. This happens all the time and goes fine

The retailer signed a 10-year lease as the anchor tenant at a North Avenue building, with plans to open in the third quarter.

Die Hard With A Vengeance succeeds partly because its sub-genre is the polar opposite of a Christmas movie: a hottest-day-of-the-summer-in-the-city movie.

Perfect screenshot. Worf as a focal point is already killer, then your eyes travel to Data in the friar haircut and you think "this can't possibly get any better," and then there's the finishing blow of Geordi in his space visor plucking a lute

No one’s rich like Gaston
That’s the pitch for “Gaston”
No one’s complex and tragic yet kitsch like Gaston
He’s a circle that begs to be squared
It’s a tentpole, a four-quadrant hit
Yes his backstory’s moving and layered
And it’s starring a CGI de-aged Brad Pitt

Horses, the indie game that is too scandalous for either Valve or Epic, is only beyond the pale if you're not familiar with any other art form.

A lot of the people bemoaning Netflix's possible acquisition of WB are ignoring the fact that if WB goes to Paramount, it will be Disney buying Fox all over again--WB will become a "label" within Paramount and then simply disappear. Ellison hasn't shown he can run one studio. Don't give him two. >

I think this was always true but is especially true as the era of films premiering on closed platforms subsumes the relatively (and certainly imperfectly) open era of theatrical distribution and cable tv
All media mergers end up hurting writers, actors, directors, and everyone else who works in the industry. Executives, assistants, caterers, teamsters, everyone. Fewer companies means fewer jobs, period.
