I know it sounds cliche, but I was radicalized by George Carlin. Seeing his HBO specials had a profound impact on me at a formative age. So I continue to find solace in his albums at times like these...yet another Bengals loss in agonizing fashion

Gonna give it an honest shot over here. If anyone cares to give me a signal boost for folks to find me, I'd appreciate it.

It was about 20 years ago that I interviewed George Carlin for The AV Club, about three years before he died. I was very nervous beforehand, but within a minute on the phone I knew it was going to be a great one. It's one I still like to re-read from time to time. www.avclub.com/george-carli...

One positive effect of watching a lot of basketball is that you get used to phrases like The Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis. It's not good to read stuff like that or know what it means but I sense it will help somewhat when something with a similar vibe and feel replaces Social Security.

I still think the best way for electeds & the media to counter right wing messaging is to just call them fucking morons, weirdos & crackpots. Explaining facts & details is boring. "Senator whatshisface wants to abolish the FDA? That's because he's a fucking nutjob." And leave it at that.
