Also, "no business will take an outstanding loss just to fill up arenas"? Here are some WCW attendances from 1993 alone:
Beach Blast: 8,600, only 4,000 paid. Clash of the Champions 23: 6,000, only 2,000 paid. Slamboree: 7,000, only 3,700 paid. Clash 24: 8,900, only 2,400 paid.
I have no idea if TNA did or didn't paper, but the idea of going "Why would we do it now, of all times?" when they are rumored to be on the verge of landing a TV deal/possible sale is funny. That would be the exact time TO paper for appearances. If they did, it's a smart move!
"Why would I wait to clean my apartment until when my superintendent is coming for inspection?" Gee, I dunno, let me take this question down to the lab so we can work on it and get back to you.

I love that in 2007 the Briscoes ended up in Japan and Mark wound up wearing an Akira Taue t-shirt where Taue is holding a title belt in one hand and a fish in the other.
For those too young to remember, the PTC was a right-wing media watchdog group that complained about SINFUL TV and drove Vince so crazy he started a parody stable called "Right to Censor" which included the Godfather becoming the GOODfather.
Like, Kota Ibushi was a guy who was 38 and looked 23 and was seemingly indestructable, and now five years later if you told me he has come down with Polio I'd go "This was expected."
Kota Ibushi is one of those insane humans where for 20 years they appeared to never age and be immune from physical harm, and then one day it's like the Final Destination specter of death says "Oh fuck, I forgot about that guy" and the backlog of maladies hits them all at once.

I will say the first episode of that podcast, where he talks to his now ex-wife and she spends an hour coldly, calmly, and savagely telling him how he ruined her life as he meekly is like "I hear you" because he needs to do this to attempt a comeback, is car crash entertainment.
I dunno, maybe AEW feels like Ned Fulmer can capture that Kevin Federline/Logan Paul "Oddly famous guy who everyone hates is secretly an incredible wrestling heel" magic, but I wouldn't bet on lightning striking the same place three times.
Any time you can can help the attempted career relaunch (He just started a podcast where he talks to other people who ruined their lives) of the most boring, least talented member of a group of niche e-celebs, famous for being someone everyone now hates, you jump to do it.
Like, on the list of canceled people, his offenses are in the bottom quarter (Although cheating on a spouse with your employee, not exactly cool!) but even from a cold hearted business perspective...what social cache is there be gained by working with this guy?
I've been having vision problems lately and this story has made me think they're some kind of slow acting gift from God. Lord keep making these things harder to read.

ICYMI: Last night I wrote the second part of my HOF column, even longer than the first, with the only Sabu/Chess comparison you'll see this season. All free!
My first of two columns on this years' Observer HOF. See who I voted for. 7,500+ just talking wrestling instead of worrying about it for once. www.patreon.com/posts/139983...
I think that is an interesting theory, and I think wrestling fans might be more likely, if they do get selected, to want to "Help the business" in a way that a fan of Guy's Grocery Games wouldn't be.
