I sympathize with furloughed workers, and the snap situation was going to become untenable, but people are also going to die because of the destruction of the ACA

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Senator Schumer has failed to lead this party in one of its most critical moments, and Americans will pay the price. It’s time for him to step down from leadership and make way for a new generation willing to fight for the people instead of the powerful.

If we get polls in a couple weeks showing the generic ballot swinging back toward the GOP, come back and drag me but I trust the median voter to go “hey my costs keep increasing and the elephant man is in charge of all three branches of government”
I still kinda think it’s going to be D+12 in a year because the orange god king is determined to to be a blansas sized political suicide bomber

Idk what annoys me more, the fact that the Canadian left is once again dropping everything to chase of the coattails of the latest magic yankee, or the fact that Mamdani’s win is being treated as the vindication of the same bloodless ‘positivity’ that’s won the NDP 0 of the last 20 elections.

This vote has not happened yet. Call your Senators, especially your Democratic Senators, and tell them that a deal without protection NOW for health insurance tax credits is unacceptable.

CALL CALL CALL CALL CALL YOUR DEMOCRATIC SENATOR RIGHT NOW
8/ the wind at their backs right now I think a strong enough pre-backlash literally right now could change it. And again, even if they have the votes it’s critical that the rest of the caucus does not give them cover. People who want to throw in the towel now shld be crystal clear they want to …

A future vote on the ACA tax credits is not enough.

The American people about to lose their health care need results, not votes.

Ok this is officially a thing, call your senator asap and tell them to hold the line
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

if you are food insecure for both the humans and pets in your household there is a tool called Pet Help Finder that can help locate pet food banks nearby and other free or reduced price assistance and supplies for pets.
no one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, should have to give up their pet bc of this.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

To that effect Carney is a blessing in disguise for the NDP (if they can take it)

Because it is so vividly seen how close Carney is to the Conservative Party that when people gets tired of him they can portray themselves as the sole bearer of change.
One reason why the Canadian conservatives don’t win often is because we have to put up with 4 to 8 years of them passing legislation in a scenario where majority rules and it reminds us why we don’t like that actually.
