This is a critical point. What we're really witnessing is the *collapse* of law and order, brought about by Trump's lawless thugs. I think a lot of ordinary people intuitively understand that this is what's happening.
It is hard to explain institutional collapse to voters; videos where state actors are clearly acting in abusive ways explain themselves.
This is incredible: 81% of working class and 83% of young voters have seen video of Renee Good's killing, per new data I've obtained. Majority of working class disapproves of ICE enforcement. ICE brutality is breaking through big time.

Some thoughts on this here:

Does anybody ever met a paid protestor? Is this something you can put on your tax return? Is it a cash under the table thing? What is the interview process like? How much does it pay, and is it worth getting tear gassed and assaulted for the salary? What about health insurance? Pension?
"You're seeing a lot of paid protesters" -- Rep. Mike Haridopolos's attempt to defend ICE's tactics in Minneapolis during a CNN panel discussion this morning did not go well. Bad used car salesman vibes.

i kinda wasn’t really aware this was going on to this (insane) extent. holy crap.
I want to talk about a dystopian world we are entering - where every moment, event, and crisis just become commodities.

Life stops being something we live, but something we sell and trade. It will breed both corruption & emptiness.

Even in death, women are denied the bare minimum of respect.

This pathetic, rage-filled coward—after murdering her in cold blood—called her a “fucking bitch” mere seconds after shooting her dead.

The contemptible misogyny doesn’t even pause for a corpse to cool.

Here’s how to “make sense” of all this: The right is composed of evil people doing evil things who do not give a single fuck about this country, your state or your family. All they want is power and the power to crush anyone who isn’t a white man that believes in society oriented around white men.

there’s nothing republicans love more than punishing americans. they want you broke, sick, dumb and disconnected while they enrich themselves.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funded NPR, PBS and hundreds of local radio and TV stations across the U.S. for more than a half-century, said on Monday that its board of directors had voted to dissolve the organization because Congress cut off its federal money.

The purpose of pushing impeachment articles through the House, via a fucking discharge petition if necessary, is to make Trump have to spend resources defending himself in the Senate.

And if new impeachment articles come through every two weeks, you force the motherfucker on defense.
IMO the argument is that you can make things into big enough deals that it matters. Khanna found Massey and found survivors and made the Epstein Files the gigantic story it should be. Only then did establishment Dems come along. You can, in fact, make things into big hairy deals if you do it right.
if you want the Senate to do something, Senate Republicans must do something.

People are dunking on this but I'm not really sure what plays Schumer has other than to try to peel off Rs.

yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.
Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest
