NEW:

In 2024, Tierra Walker was sick and getting sicker. She was also pregnant.

She knew abortion was illegal in Texas, but thought there was an exception for women like her, whose health was at risk. Doctors told her there was no emergency.

Then she died.

“Ticking Time Bomb”: A Pregnant Mother Kept Getting Sicker. She Died After She Couldn’t Get an Abortion in Texas.
Walker is one of several women ProPublica found with underlying health conditions who died when they couldn’t access abortions.

LLMs give people with delusional belief systems a way to organise those beliefs. The model fills in gaps, supplies connective tissue, and wraps the madness in formal language.
It doesn't make the claims more credible to us, it just tidies them up.

it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

Honestly, more of this. Anyone working for ICE shouldn't get served anywhere. #NoTreatsForFascists
I’m still struggling with the fact that ICE “brown shirts” went to a taco shop and thought they would get served.

F that!

I dunno, man. Seems pretty wild to write an extensive piece like this and only give a cursory mention of why so many people "declined to be interviewed."

The man has sued so many people for even just TWEETING about the case. But I still gotta listen to CanLit elites play the victim? C'mon.
Opinion: A decade ago, writer Steven Galloway’s cancellation tore CanLit apart. The effects linger to this day
The bestselling novelist faced sexual-assault allegations, costing him his job. Marsha Lederman asks, would this case be handled differently today?

Children should have legally enshrined inalienable rights that can’t be overruled by parents.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Some random group of NIMBYs, claiming to speak for all of Toronto, is deeply concerned about neighbourhood stores.

The spokesperson (frequent activist vs planning reform) lives in a wealthy, deeply suburban part of Etobicoke.

These people speak for no one, and ought to be ignored.

The 8 Senators and Schumer should experience the consequences of this vote by becoming pariahs. They should no longer be welcome at events. Restaurants should refuse to serve them. Stores and vendors should refuse to sell to them. Tell them they suck daily. Basically, give them the ICE treatment.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.
