You probably know this already but the Appalachian Mountains are older than bones. And are the same mountain range as the ones in Scotland and Norway.

Tomorrow is November 21st, which is Ken Griffey Jr.'s birthday.

Despite his 2,781 career hits, he only ranks second all-time among players born on 11/21 in Donora, PA (Musial).

I hate this hymn but this might actually improve the experience of singing it
I used to sing the hymn How Great Thou Art to Miko except I’d change it to How Round Thou Art

God bless the elderly Presbyterians (and Episcopalians, and Lutherans, and Methodists, and American Baptists, and Disciples, and Congregationalists, and Brethren, and Quakers, and Mennonites, and Moravians, and Unitarians, and ...)
I'm officially organizing people from church into an anti-ICE rapid response group. The elderly Presbyterians are PISSED.

This solar project on an old gravel pit is notable for size but mostly for its community nature. Eleven municipalities have subscribed to it, getting the financial benefit of solar without having to build their own arrays.

I had not heard that Parliament had finally acted on this, and this is indeed good news!

My almost-adult son is a Canadian citizen by descent (his father was born to American parents in Nova Scotia) but was born in the US,
MORE good news: A Canadian bill is just about to receive Royal Assent (yes this is a thing) and soon, if your parent is a Canadian citizen who spent 1,095 days of physical presence in Canada before you were born, you will be a citizen regardless of where you were born and where you live.

OK people, hit me with your recommendations for 2026 PAGE-A-DAY calendars. (The kind with 365 small sheets that you tear off one by one.)

It's become a tradition to get my kid one each Christmas, but I don't have an obvious candidate to buy from this year.

ChatGPT’s signature writing style is everywhere now, and I hate it. It reminds me of when we tried mixing all the beverages at the soda fountain in middle school. We didn’t actually create the perfect drink, we just made a cloying monstrosity that lost everything good about its constituent parts.

Lauren Ambrose. We co-edited the yearbook.
Who was in your high school graduating class, +/- two years, that would be of interest?

For example, I took a basketball class and graduated w/all-time 8th man Jud Buechler (look it up), and may have followed Stephanie Seymour (not sure if she still WENT to school after I moved there).
