The message of Trump’s letter to the prime minister of Norway signals that the president “genuinely lives in a different reality, one in which neither grammar nor history nor the normal rules of human interaction now affect him,” @anneapplebaum.bsky.social argues.
Trump’s Letter to Norway Should Be the Last Straw
Will Republicans in Congress ever step in?

If you say that Putin should get Crimea or Donbas, then you can't say that Trump shouldn't get Greenland. It's the same redrawing of borders by great powers at the expense of smaller neighbours. Normalizing the annexation of Crimea has paved the way for Trump's Greenland demands.

The only U.S. heavy icebreaker turns 50. That's an interesting landmark given recent U.S. criticism of other countries for not taking Arctic security seriously.
USCGC Polar Star, the U.S. Coast Guard’s only heavy icebreaker, turns 50. All U.S. military icebreakers are part of the Coast Guard; the Navy does not operate any vessels of this type.

What they want you to believe—what they NEED you to believe—is that if you don’t behave the way they want you to behave, they will fucking kill you

I don’t think people realise how awful it is in Ukraine right now. Yesterday my friend posted how it’s -9 and because of the power cuts - due to Russian attacks - she has no heating. This is in Kyiv. And this is the day after a mass missile & drone strike killed four people.

Greenland would be the Sudetenland moment. You can say, "well we can't defeat the US in a conventional war, so we have to give into them." Or do you "cultivate resistance" in the hope of a return to democracy in Washington? I don't have answers, but people need to start thinking fast.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Russia’s only real chances to win anything in Ukraine are political – by convincing the US and Europe that it’s inevitably winning. Take that away, and Russia looks much more vulnerable.

Pu's cheap lying stunt exposed the uselessness of any US security guarantees to Ukraine (or to NATO members fwiw). If Trump believes the aggressor immediately and unconditionally without any evidence, Pu can accuse Ukraine of violating the terms of any peace settlement and voila, no help from the US
🤥 Residents of Valdai in Russia's Novgorod Oblast say they neither saw nor heard any drone strikes or air defence activity on the night of 28-29 December, despite Russian authorities' claims of a drone attack on Russian leader Vladimir Putin's residence.

Mit der U.S.-Regierung unter Trump verhält es sich wie mit der russischen Regierung unter Putin: Man kann prinzipiell keinem Wort, das sie sagt, glauben.
The White House has been caught.

The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.

In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.
