"Normal citizens" is intentionally vauge, in order to do some heavy lifting here. No lifeboat for anyone who voted for Trump at least twice. Elections have consequences. They should have to wear their Scarlett Letter red hat out in public for a significant amount of time.
Nuanced take: I think it's really important to give *normal citizens* who supported Trump and off-ramp and *professional writers, pundits and politicians* who supported Trump should have to wear it like a scarlet letter for the rest of their lives
This is aggravating, because on the one hand I think it's really important to give fascists an off-ramp and positive reinforcement when they use it...

...on the other hand, FUCK that guy, in particular.

Democrats didn't "forfeit" anything. They elected a black man as president, twice and it broke the brains of a lot of white Americans. Also, look up the political history of voters in Arkansas, the Confederacy, and the Southern Strategy.

Tony is saying, "A lot of our viewers are stupid so we can tell them whatever we want because we know they have zero critical thinking skills."
Been reading this over and over and can't for the life of me understand what he's even trying to say. This is a lot of words to say... nothing.

Trump's America - Billionaires get tax cuts, everyone else gets one piece of chicken, one piece of broccoli, one tortilla, and two pencils. #TheGoldenAge
Brooke Rollins: "We've run over 1,000 simulations. It can cost around $3 a meal for a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing. So there is a way to do this that actually will save the average American consumer money."

So fucking what? It isn't a crime to monitor ICE. With the way ICE is acting, especially towards school children, it is the moral thing to do.
cnn.com CNN @cnn.com · 6d
The woman killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis last week served on the board of her son’s school, which linked to documents encouraging parents to monitor ICE and directing them to training. https://cnn.it/49yoNEa

Welcome to fascist America where the government can kill you for being disrespectful of their jack-booted thugs.
Q: "Do you believe that deadly force was necessary?"

Trump: "It was highly disrespectful of law enforcement. The woman and her friend were highly disrespectful of law enforcement…Law enforcement should not be in a position where they have to put up with this stuff."

Obama making fun of him at the Whitehouse Correspondent's Dinner really screwed up what was already Trump's broken, fragile ego.
Trump: "They have the worst policy. How we have to even run against these people -- I won't say cancel the election, they should cancel the election, because the fake news with say, 'He wants the elections canceled. He's a dictator.' They always call me a dictator. Nobody is worse than Obama."

If there is anything the past few years have shown us it is that the average America is dumb as hell. Gatekeeping of information is problematic but opening it up to anyone and everyone is so much worse.
This is how and why NewsNation became another Fox News clone.

"Advocates" are typically going to be experts on the subjects being reported, so they can explain facts and context that ordinary people.

Those ordinary people are often idiots who are often clueless about subjects.

Treating "white supremacy," "fascism," "theocratic authoritarianism," "pedo enabling"... as "red flags," is some journalistic/linguistic bullshit.

It isn't about differing "political views." It is about different value systems.
npr.org NPR @npr.org · 19d
Everyone has a list of so-called "red flags" when they're dating. And for some, especially younger Americans, different political views is a relationship deal breaker.
Majority of Gen Z swipe left on dating people with opposite political views

First, the Party Of Christianity not only cutting but refusing to fill in the shortfall is quite the hot take.
Second, if you are the richest country n the world and you believe you are "God's Country," it is 100% your moral obligation to care for those less fortunate.

I won't be lectured about being decent from someone who ditched his wife for his former research assistant.
Why have Americans become so mean, sad, and alienated? The answer is simple, @nytdavidbrooks argues. People no longer grow up learning how to be decent to one another: bit.ly/4qskLny

'Immigrant'

def: a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country.

Relabeling them as "pilgrims," "settlers," or whatever you can come up with doesn't change the fact that they were, by definition, immigrants.

Today in Strawman Construction: NO ONE has ever asked white people to apologize for being white. The most that has been asked of their snow-flaked asses is to acknowledge that being white has social, legal, political... advantages.
JD Vance: "In the United States of America you don't have to apologize for being white anymore"

"Adjust your thinking," is some serious 1984 Newspeak bullshit. "Jobs numbers are like golf scores, the lower the better."
When asked why the US is seeing massive job loss, Trump's top trade advisor first claims it's "by design," then blames immigrants, then says the recent jobs report is "a good report" if you "adjust your thinking"

Because, as a joint custody parent who lives outside my child's school district, it is my only option. However, the bigger reason is because it is time I get one-on-one, twice a day when we have some of our best conversations. My daughter doesn't "make me do this." I happily choose it.
Why the fuck is everybody dropping off their kid at school personally like a little chauffeur? Put them on the fucking bus, you're not a fuckin driver. You're not a fucking slave.

Local conspiracy theorist is upset the people who believe his nonsense also believe other nonsense.
It's wild how Chris Rufo openly talks about his own followers like they are the dumbest, most contemptible people alive. Which, fair!

But it says a lot about MAGA psychology that they don't seem to mind.

This is a logical outcome of conservative justices supporting "deeply held beliefs," over facts/evidence/science. All that matters is someone really believes something and it must be given top-tier status. This is Participation Trophy culture but taken to the next level where you win no matter what.

Regardless batting 0-1000, there is no situation or policy of Trump's that mediocre white guys at the NYTs will not spend 5000 words defending.
There is no batshit far-right idea that the NYT's "reasonable" conservatives will not launder into polite discourse.

Tell me you don't know a damn thing about the scientific method without saying you don't know a damn thing about the scientific method.

Vance conveniently leaves out the most crucial step is disagreeing, criticizing, and arguing against- EVIDENCE
JD Vance: "Science as practiced in its best form is that if you disagree with it, then you ought to criticize it and you ought to argue against it."
