My current project is a cyberpunk heist novel where 2 sisters try to reunite while their country falls apart around them.

It's not immigrants who've been screwing us in Maine. It's corporations like CSX, scumbag CEOs like Steve Angel, and investment firms like Ancora Holdings.

These leeches won't hesitate to sabotage Mainers' lives so millionaire investors see fatter returns.

Want someone to blame? Start with them.

Every senator who voted to confirm RFK Jr bears responsibility for the acceleration in measles, which had been all but eradicated before 2020.

Susan Collins has much to answer for. #mepolitics

This is pretty striking. If this piece is correct, even 13 arrests that ICE has publicized in Maine include a bunch of false claims and several people with no apparent record at all.

It should be incumbent on the feds to prove their allegations
This is the kind of work that newspapers used to do. Now they're so overwhelmed just filling white space that there's no time for shit like this, so it's left to randos on the internet to prove DHS/ICE is lying about, well, just about everything:

David’s a friend so I’ve heard rumblings of his argument here. It’s a good one. The DHS was not a great idea from the start; we can do without it and do the necessary things it does in a better way.

No officer/agent involved in a citizen shooting should ever carry a gun again. Either they will be so traumatized by the experience they will never be reliable in a crisis again or they won't be traumatized at all, which is worse.

Calling for more “training” for ICE while ignoring the reality on the ground isn’t leadership. It’s avoidance. Senator Collins must vote NO on the DHS budget. This is about accountability, human decency, and stopping lawless abuse of power.

Good. ICE must be accountable for what they do. No regulation, no oversight—no support.

And to be clear, I would have voted no on the House version of the DHS bill for that reason.
Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included.

And three months ago.

Caucus leadership has conceded to Trump every power he's seized to lead this this brutal campaign
Memory is a fragile thing in this moment, so it is important to keep in mind that Hakeem Jeffries refused to whip his caucus against ICE funding earlier this week.

Reversing Citizens United the most egregious decision by SCOTUS, should be democrats number one priority when we regain power

Ruling effectively allowed corporations and unions to spend unlimited amounts of money on independent political communications, such as advertisements, as long as they do

People in places where this doesn't happen often are given dire warnings by the news and left to fend for themselves.

Responsible media wouldn't feed into hysteria and would give real advice on "snowed-in" meals, general expectations for how long to wait for clear roads.
i popped by the wegmans to grab a couple things and entire shelves of produce were inexplicably gone. like, what are people even *making*

It’s unmistakable how much the way institutions treat lying federal officials is the same way they treat lying abusers and predators. Even when they contradict themselves, admit to wrongdoing, and repeatedly undermine their own credibility, institutions support their side over their victims.

Folks, I cannot overstate how important it is to document what is happening around you with ICE. This admin may attempt to bury the truth, but they cannot erase it. These videos are incredibly difficult to watch but incredibly important to have for evidence once we turn the tide.

How can I confidently say we now live under a fully-fledged fascist regime, despite so-called expert pundits saying otherwise?

Because I choose to accept the evidence of my eyes and ears, rather than follow the regime’s essential commands.

I’ve said this before but I think the model should be personal liberty laws that fought the Fugitive Slave Act in the 1850s. Maine was a leader there, refusing slave-catchers any state assistance in their evil work, however legal it might be.
I'm grateful for what's been done so far
I'm frustrated it took so long
I'm confident we need to do more

My stance with the “never Trump” right remains: These are the people who fucking built Trump. Years of shit in service of Reagan, Bush, Romney, McCain paved the way for Trump. I don’t trust them. They’re rotten. I trust the people who opposed this shit all along.

Congressional statutes aren’t suggestions.

They are binding legal commands issued by the only branch
empowered to make law.

When the Executive disregards them—whether through inaction, selective enforcement, or outright defiance—Congress must confront that breach with unmistakable force.
