A High School senior was a speaker at the protest in Portland! Katya mentioned that she was starting something called the Franklin Project to help with youth organizing for these exact types of movements. So definitely even some younger folks doing great things.
I ran into David Costello at Brunswick and Portland and he spoke at both. Those two protests were my main focus as well, but I only spoke at the Portland one. Jordan Wood was also at the Portland protest and spoke.
No Kings in Brunswick and Portland today was packed. Huge thanks to all of the organizers and folks who showed up and participated. Protest signs always remind me of just how creative people can be when they are really fired up about a cause! As goes Maine, so goes the nation! #mepolitics
No Kings is tomorrow! If you have the chance, then please consider going to protests to remind this administration that we care about human rights and democracy. I will be one of the now many speakers at the protest in Portland and hope to meet some of you in person! Stay strong Maine! #mepolitics
People need to understand this exact point. One of the major talking points for republicans is that this issue should be addressed later. That is absolutely false. It must be addressed now. Lives literally depend on this issue. Fix it.
This is NOT an end-of-year issue. Open enrollment runs Nov.1 – Jan.15 for most states and window shopping begins in October. If Congress waits until Dec.31, 1.5 million more people will be uninsured in 2026 compared to an earlier extension. (4/4)

In my humble opinion, the only role DSCC money should play in the Maine Senate primary is paying for televised debates or open forums in every county in Maine. If we truly believe that competitiveness is the driver of strength in candidates then prove it. And be transparent about it. #mepolitics
Slight update: Dan Kleban has dropped out and endorsed Mills already. So we are back to nine again.
Unsurprising. Personally, I'm not stopping. I started my campaign knowing I would be up against established politicians and candidates with far deeper pockets than mine. But Mainers deserve a competitive primary where candidates are challenged on their positions. I look forward to it. #mepolitics
NEW: Maine Democrat Dan Kleban suspends his Senate campaign & endorses Janet Mills the same day she launches her campaign.

Also comes as the DSCC files a joint fundraising committee with Mills.

Consolidation happening around Mills, who would be 79 if elected to the 6-year-term.
No worries at all! I appreciate all the work you do to keep people informed and its definitely quite hard to keep track when the candidates could make their own sports team or full band at this point.
Today, on Indigenous Peoples' Day, we must recognize that Maine has failed to recognize Tribal sovereignty. This is despite a 2020 report that listed 22 points that would bring our laws closer to respecting the inherent rights of Indigenous people across Maine. It's been far too long, stop delaying.
Ouch, snubbed. David Evans and myself are also in the primary for the sake of completeness. Mills entering would make for 10 Dems in the primary. Crowded may be an understatement.

But that strength comes from comparisons of policy positions and beliefs in real time. And that only happens during open forums. So if you want a stronger primary and candidates, then consider helping set up open forums that host all the candidates all across Maine. (2/2) #mepolitics
A lot of talk about Mills entering the Senate race in Maine. My thoughts: counting Mills there are now 10 Dems in the primary. When done right, primaries make each of the candidates stronger and helps build candidates for future races - not just the one the primary is specifically for. (1/2)
Dang, caught in that crossfire. But certainly a question worth asking. Will be interesting to see how many folks get the required signatures to get on the actual ballot.
It may take time (and dramatic changes in elected officials), but we will absolutely ensure that justice is actually done. We cannot overlook the continued attacks on basic human rights perpetrated by this administration and corrupt officials.
Hoping these federal agents are held accountable, breaking the law should have real consequences. A federal judge has ruled that federal immigration agents illegally arrested more than two dozen people.
I wish this was a surprise but this is exactly what I’d expect from this administration. They are only out to enrich themselves and don’t care about the struggles of everyday people.
The idea that republicans care more about healthcare than democrats is absurd. Mike Johnson is out of his mind. And so is Susan Collins who continues to blame democrats for the shutdown despite claiming to care about rural healthcare.
Primaries all across Maine are really heating up now. Its clear that Mainers have had enough of the current system and want dramatic change. Will be interesting to see how the CD2 primary plays out along with the governor and senate races. #mepolitics

Affordable and easily accessible healthcare saves lives. It is also a foundational requirement for promoting the general welfare of the People. Yet Susan Collins seems to completely ignore this reality with her votes. We need a stronger delegation to better serve Mainers. #mepolitics
At last check, she had voted in favor of Trumps agenda at least 96% of the time. That is not the mark of a moderate at all and it is a disservice to Americans (and Mainers) to claim otherwise.
We really need to push back against this "moderate" nonsense.

"Senator Susan Collins, a moderate Republican who has occasionally voted with Democrats, tells reporters here at the Capitol that she's worried about the impact of a potential shutdown on the country's national parks." #mepolitics

And yet this administration will spend $20 billion on bailing out Argentina. Whatever happened to following the Constitution and promoting the general welfare of the People?
