If you think "No Kings" is a terrorist slogan, you need to read the Declaration of Independence.

It's not so much their endorsement that makes any difference, but their filing to form a fundraising committee with Mills before the primary has taken place. It's inappropriate and gives an unfair advantage to Mills and an unfair shake to the other candidates.
pinetreeactivism.org
A lot has changed in the four weeks since this article. Kleban, favored in that poll, has dropped out and endorsed Mills.

This whole thing is going to be a mess to sort out until it's settled.
pinetreeactivism.org
Yeah, exactly.

The Dem establishment does not have much of a record in picking/funding candidates of late.

AND

Mainers really do not like being told who our candidate will be.
volts.wtf
The Dem establishment is going to back Mills over the absolute phenom outsider Platner in Maine, which tells you everything you need to know about how well they understand the current moment & how prepared they are to meet it.
pinetreeactivism.org
Thanks, Tucker. I heard he'd dropped out and read he endorsed Mills, though see he still has his campaign site up for donations. I assume that'll come down or have a statement soon.

As I told someone else, this whole thing is going to be a mess to sort out 'til it's settled.

Best o'luck to you!

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee's (DSCC) has filed to form a fundraising committee w/Senate candidate Janet Mills.

For those interested, here's a thorough rundown on DSCC's actions over the years, including Chuck Schumer's time as chair.

They all deserve a level playing field w/out DSCC influence.

Just saw somewhere that he's endorsed Mills. . . this whole thig is going to be a mess to sort out 'til it's settled.
pinetreeactivism.org
I was unaware, then, of who was behind Sara Gideon's run, though knew Mitch McConnell threw big PAC money behind Collins.

I really dislike the game playing and behind the scenes, closed room, ways of it all.
pinetreeactivism.org
I caught that, too.

According to google's AI overview:
AI Overview
Graham Platner's U.S. Senate campaign in Maine is consulting with the political firm
Fight Agency and its strategists Joe Calvello and Morris Katz. These advisors have experience with other progressive, populist campaigns.
Key campaign consultants

Joe Calvello: A senior advisor to the campaign, Calvello is the former director of communications for Senator John Fetterman's successful 2022 campaign in Pennsylvania. He also worked with Nebraska Senate candidate Dan Osborn.
Morris Katz: As an admaker, Katz has created successful ads for other insurgent Democratic campaigns. He previously worked for New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

Other key personnel

Daniel Pelt: A longtime friend of Platner, Pelt was a campaign staffer and has been involved in grassroots organizing alongside Platner through a local political group called Acadia Action.

Parnas: A lot of people are saying this idea that, well, Graham Platner hasn’t won statewide, and Janet Mills has.

Platner: We have a number of excellent senators who had never run for office or won a statewide race before.

That’s an argument the establishment makes to protect itself
pinetreeactivism.org
There are ten democrats who have announced they're vying for Collins' senate seat:

Natasha Alcala
David Costello
David Evans
Tucker Favreau
Dan Kleban
Andrea LaFlamme
Janet Mills
Graham Platner
Daira Smith-Rodriguez
Jordan Wood

I'm glad you agree, Amy.

As Professor Emeritus of Political Science, you know far more, though it's my understanding national party rules call for neutrality, and that this trend to influence and fund campaigns has developed over recent years.

Let the primary be fair and even-keeled.
pinetreeactivism.org
The trend in recent years for big money like this from parties, whether collaborative or from a PAC, is what kept Sen Susan Collins and others in office so long. Not a level playing field.

I love Janet Mills & she has done an admiral job as Gov, though this will hurt her standing w/Mainers.
pinetreeactivism.org
This kind of political shenanigan is enough to drive Americans, especially Mainers, away from, and not to embrace, the Democratic Party.

It'll get a lot of money for Mills, though will hurt her, too.
It's the kind of bullshit folks dislike with a passion.

Let the primary be fair and even-keeled.
muellershewrote.com
NO. It's fundamentally inappropriate for the @dscc.bsky.social to form a fundraising committee with Janet Mills. What happened to staying OUT of the primaries?

LWV-Portland: SAVE MAINE ABSENTEE VOTNG – On November 4, Mainers will vote on Question 1. It will ask if voters want to enact over 27 changes to Maine’s election laws, including changing popular aspects of absentee voting, stripping away ongoing absentee voting, restricting the use of dropboxes, and implementing photo ID in order to vote. The League of Women Voters of Maine opposes Question 1 and views it as a form of voter suppression. These measures will not ensure election security, but the changes are guaranteed to suppress voters, including elderly Mainers, as well as tribal members, students, disabled, and poor voters. Join this talk to learn more about Question 1 and how you can help us spread the word and encourage Mainers to vote NO. FMI: www.democracymaine.org/civicrm-event/2170
