It's not so much their endorsement that makes any difference, but their filing to form a fundraising committee with Mills before the primary has taken place. It's inappropriate and gives an unfair advantage to Mills and an unfair shake to the other candidates.

A lot has changed in the four weeks since this article. Kleban, favored in that poll, has dropped out and endorsed Mills.

This whole thing is going to be a mess to sort out until it's settled.

The Dem establishment does not have much of a record in picking/funding candidates of late.

Thanks, Tucker. I heard he'd dropped out and read he endorsed Mills, though see he still has his campaign site up for donations. I assume that'll come down or have a statement soon.

As I told someone else, this whole thing is going to be a mess to sort out 'til it's settled.

I was unaware, then, of who was behind Sara Gideon's run, though knew Mitch McConnell threw big PAC money behind Collins.

I really dislike the game playing and behind the scenes, closed room, ways of it all.

The trend in recent years for big money like this from parties, whether collaborative or from a PAC, is what kept Sen Susan Collins and others in office so long. Not a level playing field.

I love Janet Mills & she has done an admiral job as Gov, though this will hurt her standing w/Mainers.
