Well I finished scrolling so you don't have to, and it appears that Elon is so freaked out by all the protests that he tried to distract everyone with gold heist conspiracy theories.

Which a good sign.
Uh team is Elon about to rob Fort Knox

A very good thread on how romance's use of tropes/similar story types is complicated.

The person telling the story and how they tell it is what's transformative. Which is beautiful and shit!

It's also why when editors ask for story types, we don't just take whatever fits the checklist first.
How long do you think it’ll be before one of these books vs literature types gets hold of Harlequins and imagines they’re a new trend of “writing the same books over and over again.”

If I ever leave publishing, I'll probably get a PhD just so I can study the impacts and echoes of queer small press publishing in the last century. The drastic drop in work from queer men in the last 50 years alone is fascinating.

Funny how the Dems must eschew elitism brigade think that means taking a stance against pronouns & promising to crack down on immigrants as opposed to backing away from billionaires & demanding working people get more.

This is the fifth time I’ve compiled this list. I don’t remember my motivations back in 2020. Perhaps I wanted to be a good, cis ally and honor authors I admire. Maybe I wanted to fill an end-of-the-y...

*whispers* There is a reason Musk allowed Nazis to have the run of the place over at X.
The AfD is controversial even among other European far-right parties because many of its leaders are not shy about expressing Nazi sympathies.

And Elon Musk is straight up applauding them, calling the party Germany’s last, best hope.

-New York
-Ohio
-Oregon
-Pennsylvania
-Missouri
-Texas
-Washington

The strike could reach “hundreds of stores” by Tuesday, according to @sbworkersunited.org.

Even some of the most educated ppl have NO idea what AI is doing to energy use & the environment. My husband works in EPA permitting of factories & energy facilities, and they are getting SO many requests for permitting data centers. We're gonna AI ourselves into rapid environmental collapse.
I know academics who use AI regularly, for work and play, and I'd really like them, and universities, to tell me how they contend with AI's bottomless appetites for power and water.

Is asking ChatGPT to interpret a Xmas song or making it write your syllabus worth this to you?

Coming here from Threads feels like leaving a crowded gym full of loudly buzzing fluorescent lights and shouting people and entering a library reading room with some warm lamps and light conversation flowing.

Sanderson isn’t just a church member. He’s part of the faculty at BYU which prohibits “Same-sex romantic behavior” as part of their honor code.

To say nothing of the title XI lawsuit, the school’s mistreatment of students who experience sexual harassment and sexual assault.

I’ve run into a similar cognitive dissonance from people who have no issue understanding the economic and political implications of buying Harry Potter merchandise.

Members in good standing, like Brandon Sanderson, tithe 10% of their income to the church, which has funded anti-LGBTQIA legislation.
Now my post targets and discourages Sanderson fans and open-minded Mormons- I think if me saying “I don’t read/like Sanderson because he gives money to Mormonism” makes you uncomfortable that’s on you to unpack, not on me.
Posted my Brandon Sanderson tiktok to reels- let’s figure out what wacky responses I get from ppl trying to defend their favorite white man 😤

Something tough about working in trad pub in today's market is that readers have a different set of expectations versus something indie.

Often those expectations are for a "better book" which usually translates to "the book I, individually, think it should be" which changes the dynamic.
