I am watching the Shakespeare in the Park Twelfth Night and holy shit. Lupita Nyong'o and Sandra Oh in this scene where they first meet are *brilliant.* As was Jesse Tyler Ferguson in his first scene. Another incredible production.

We do have merch!
I don’t know if this is a thing that helps (I shall delete if I am wrong!), but indie bookstores usually have the best and not very expensive merch, too. Bookmarks, mugs, totes etc always make great gifts!
We know that, for a ton of reasons, a lot of folks don't have as much to spend as they'd like this holiday season. Sooooooo, here's a thread of things you can do that will support your local indie bookstore or other business WITHOUT spending any more than you intended...

Now starting Sleep Like Death by Kalynn Bayron. I love the way she turns familiar tales into something fresh.

This is a great thread of really small things that can help indie bookstores & other small businesses this holiday season.

Adding to the gift card advice to please not write your balance on the card. It's not easy to get ink off, making the cards harder to re-use. Use a post-it or low-tack tape.

Well I finished Butter. An amazing piece of work. If I taught Modern Literature at a university I would IMMEDIATELY put this on my syllabus. So many layers, so much delicious subtext, such fascinating characters. Both razor sharp and savage, and deeply sad and despairing.

I just need to know how you can make the constant too familiar we can help your wonderful book be more successful spam emails stop. The tone of them, and the way they refer back to previous emails as if we are already having a conversation, makes my fucking skin crawl.

Been to Whitby today, ate some lovely gravy dip sandwiches, did some Christmas shopping, bought some haggis spice 100% dark chocolate, some Parma violets ice cream, and then visited the little fox bookshop which is a gorgeous YA/MG selling place, I bought two bookmarks and a tote.

One of my editors just suggested we change a reference to a celebrity behaving badly in one of my books, because you know legal hot water and all that. Only thing is: I just plucked the name out of the air lol. I made him up. I accidentally almost libelled the keyboardist of Maroon 5.
