DHS and DOJ were *already* monitoring all your big Signal chats, they have been doing it for years. All unvetted chats have feds in them. And it's safe to assume every 20th person in a vetted chat is a fed too. Don't let it stop you from organizing.
FBI is investigating Minnesota Signal groups tracking ICE, Patel says
FBI Director Kash Patel made the statement after right-wing media figures said they joined the chats and claimed participants were obstructing law enforcement.

So, so much of the response to Good called her "a mom," even erasing her wife to make her seem more like a "normal" Wife and Mother. Pretti also has a family, but I haven't heard anything about them -- just about him and his values. He valued calling out sexism, so it's worth pointing out.
Making this point quietly, I don't want to trigger feelings I'm scolding ppl.

The heroic tone around the way ppl have accepted Pretti was martyred as a hero and how that tone contrasts with the tragic mom lost her life around Good and the virtual erasure of Keith Porter..

I’m thinking more about how we’re all millions of flawed sense-making units having millions of different lived experiences of our current, utterly chaotic situation and (for the most part, the exceptions hopefully are obvious) all trying to see each other through.

MN Doctor: I learned that Renee Good still had a pulse 8 minutes after she was shot by an ICE agent. Yet the offer to administer aid from a physician on the scene was denied. I can't say how much that stirs the blood of everyone here as we try to fulfill our oath to care for the people of Minnesota

Today marks the 3rd year, little turtles. The world is somehow even darker.

Honor, and love, and solidarity to those making it brighter and especially Manuel Paez Terán on this day.
¡Tortuguita vive! Today marks 2nd year in a much worse world where they're not here making it brighter. We honor most highly their kindness but also their courage, their commitment, and, ultimately, their sacrifice.

All the love and solidarity to all the little turtles especially Manuel Paez Terán.

This should be a national shutdown
Unions and community orgs are calling for a Minnesota-wide shutdown in 10 days to protest the ferocious assault by federal immigration agents. They're saying on Jan 23, no work, no school, no shopping. SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, & others are supporting, w/ more to join. By me, Amie Stager

I beg us not to lose sight of the role queerphobia played along with misogyny. Becca Good’s tone in interacting with Ross was just like her late wife’s: calm yet lightly mocking; neither scared nor deferential; and because of that deeply, deeply subversive. katemanne.substack.com/p/renee-good...
Renee Good’s Murder was Misogyny

I’m old enough to remember the late 2000s, when redpill dudes were starting to mobilize online

various feminists and queer activists and historians wrote fairly regularly about misogyny as the canary in the coal mine of fascism

I can still hear the crickets
He shot her in the head, then called her a “fucking bitch.”

That isn’t self defense, it’s an angry execution.

What the World Got Wrong About Autistic People
For decades, autism research compared autistic people to animals, denied them moral sensitivity, and assumed autistic traits made them miserable. All wrong.

Hey, CBP isn't allowed to do any of the stuff it's doing in Minneapolis even within the confines of its extremely ridiculous "100 miles from any border" jurisdiction. It's 300 miles from Canada and 160 miles to Lake Superior. They're breaking the law standing around, let alone beating up protesters.
Border Patrol typically only has legal authority within 100 mi. of the U.S. border. That raised questions when Cdr. Gregory Bovino was at the scene of the fatal shooting of Renee Good.

MPR News spoke with legal scholar César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández about that agency’s jurisdiction in Minnesota.

It takes an enormous amount of courage to stand there, keep filming, and scream "What the fuck, you asshole" at someone wearing a badge who just shot and killed one of your neighbors in cold blood.
I need people to wrap their minds around the fact that here in Minneapolis, ICE broke the window of a vehicle yesterday, pepper sprayed the occupants, and arrested them, and shot another observer in the face today, and OBSERVERS ARE STILL GOING OUT TO PROTECT THEIR NEIGHBORS AT MASSIVE PERSONAL RISK
I’m eating lunch, I’m having a panic attack, I’m charging my phone, and then I’m going back out to try and keep my neighborhood safe.

This is a time for 1000s of mass meetings across the country to specifically address ICE & Border Patrol actions.

1. We need standardized agendas.
2. We need standardized teach ins - with local specificities.
3. We need mass meetings to happen in the same month.
4. Local officials must attend.

The FEDS drugged and shot Fred Hampton in bed.

Philly cops blew up a building in the 1980s and most people don't even know the MOVE bombing happened.

I think you're downplaying how normalized US death is.
If the DEA had killed 80 innocent Americans in the course of apprehending one drug dealer, there would be riots. But we are so ghoulishly indifferent to the lives and humanity of people abroad that it's barely even part of the conversation.
A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

This man is running around acting like it's impossible for the United States to be bombed in retaliation and the entire Cold War was possible in part because that's simply not true (see also: Pearl Harbor)

Not enough discussion about the way this could end with the U.S. facing retaliatory bombing
