Any Boise-area businesses or individuals that take part, hit us up if we can boost your message in solidarity 🖤
If the strike called for January 23 in protest against ICE is to succeed, ordinary people—most of whom are not unionized—will have to walk out and take it upon themselves to disrupt business as usual.

No union leadership or organization can do this for us.

About a dozen BPD and unmarked vehicles staged at a church on the Boise bench from 1:45 until 3:20 PM this afternoon.

No arrests witnessed and they appear to nave dispersed.

This may have been related to a walkout students from several Boise schools participated in demanding an end to ICE terror.

Chuckling at the people in the U.S. who consistently shit on people who live in "red" states... Well according to others in the world, the entire US is now a "red" state. Not so easy to overthrow authoritarians, is it?
Important perspective from Greenland.

Courage is contagious
Students also at East Valley High and Ridgeline High in Liberty Lake also walked out today.

I was told they saw what Spokane Schools had done and wanted to do the same.

SPOKANE YOUTH ARE AT IT AGAIN
Students at Central Valley High School walked out of class today to protest recent actions by ICE under the Trump Administration.

This precinct voted 54% favor of Donald Trump in the 2024 general election. A nearby precinct in the school district voted 61% in favor of Trump in the last election.

Do what you can, when you can, where you can.

There is no wrong way to get involved. You don't need to be a full-time activist, either. You don't need to post about it if you don't want to, or make speeches or read Marx or whatever's holding you back.

Just start. We'll see you out there
January 20, 2026 at 6:22 PM
Can't protest? Ok. Your unhoused neighbors could use an extra pair of hands cleaning up the trash from an encampment perhaps. Your local Food Bank needs another car to cart boxes of food to the local church. There's a community defense training next weekend, can you make it?

We clock in as we always do, and then when we clock out, we get back to work.

We do it tired, we do it scared, we do it after we put the kids to bed and get the bills paid. We spend one weekend day at the mutual aid distro, instead of two weekend days at the bar.

We have to. That's it
Once again, how are we supposed to work through all this -- I mean, to do our day jobs?
January 20, 2026 at 6:12 PM
People aren't scared enough to lean out of mutual aid and into authoritarianism so he wants ICE to manufacture more horror stories
Trump is clearly frustrated by DHS’s propaganda campaign in Minnesota and thinks he can do better

Incredibly powerful account of ICE’s racist, authoritarian terror campaign.

Abolish ICE. Dismantle DHS. Prosecute these people.
New — I wrote about ChongLy Scott Thao, the elderly Hmong American wrongly arrested and forced out of his home by ICE in his underwear during the punishing Minnesota winter, what witnesses saw, and DHS's racist claim that he fit the description of another Asian man they were looking for.

My story:
Behind the disturbing image of ICE snatching a half-naked, elderly Hmong American from his home
DHS has claimed without evidence that they were looking for someone else when they took ChongLy Scott Thao.

Ending GOP Authoritarianism Will Require Overcoming the Democratic Leadership
The Democratic establishment shuns the progressive populism that’s vital to effectively counter bogus right-wing populism. And so, the fight to defeat the fascistic GOP and the fight to overcome the power of corporate Democrats are largely the same fight.
