NEW: since last year, a pair of "highly trained" feds have been involved in an array of incidents attacking crowds with chemical weapons.

We used public records and open source analysis to identify Edgar Vazquez and Michael Sveum, alongside some other members of their tactical team.

Identified: the El Paso BORTAC crew rampaging through the Midwest
One violent duo in particular, U.S. Border Patrol agents Michael Sveum (EZ-2) and Edgar Vazquez (EZ-17), have been frequently seen alongside former commander-at-large Greg Bovino terrorizing crowds wi...

On January 16, researchers with @bellingcat.com wrote about EZ-17's (Vazquez’s) behavior at just one scene in Minneapolis where he was counted firing his 40mm launcher at people five times within five minutes:

This wasn't the only incident where Vazquez has been seen aiming or firing directly at folks' heads (sometimes it's OC rounds, sometimes tear gas canisters) He did it in Chicago as well. Here he is on January 15 once again doing it to protesters and press outside Whipple:
More footage from a Jan. 15 protest against ICE at the Whipple Building shows federal agents using force against protesters, including agent EZ-17 from the BorTac unit of the Border Patrol firing tear gas at head level at someone from a short distance while other agents record video & take pictures.

More attention here, please.
Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

The headline should be, "DHS to keep 2,000 immigration officers in Minnesota."

Instead, it seems the entirety of the traditional media went with, "DHS to withdraw 700 immigration officers from Minnesota."

This presser worked like a charm.
Homan in Minneapolis: "Effective immediately, we will draw down 700 people effective today."

People often disparage the press — and we often get it wrong — but almost everything you know about this administration is not because pundits go on tv or social media and pontificate but because of relentless reporting from real journalists at institutions that give them resources to do so.

The nomination of Kevin Warsh for Chairman of the Federal Reserve is the latest step in Trump’s attempt to seize control of this independent institution.

No one who cares about the independence of the Federal Reserve should agree to move forward with this nomination.

I'm sure it will be a priority, in that WaPo will increase its output of dimwitted right-wing pundits spewing propaganda about "national security, in DC and abroad."

They just won't bother to have any journalists doing actual reporting on it.
The Washpost's editor said today that, amid the layoffs, one of the Post's top priorities will be "national security, in DC and abroad."

And at the same time, the Post is laying off every journalist in the Middle East. And Ukraine.

Sitting U.S. senators don't make letters such as this one public unless they feel a paper trail is needed to inform the public.
