actual lol: I have produced a sound, contrary to social convention

rotfl: that is genuinely funny

If you go to them and say "Actually America is bad and you're bad for liking it," they're going to ignore you. If you say "America is a promise and is good & we have to fight to live up to it, let's punch Nazis like we did in WWII" then more of them will join you, which we need to stop the fascists

punchline's worth it on this one
This reminds me of one of my favorite stories. During a Javelin Thrust in Yuma one year, we brought two Navajo Code Talkers out to talk to the comm Marines about doing the job in WW2, get a brief on modern comm gear, and so we could ensure we still had Marines who could say they shook their hands.
I really dislike this leftie tendency to use all of the horrible crimes this country has committed as proof that the country is irredeemable, when the people who fought against it often did so *as Americans* because it implies they were a bunch of stupid fucking rubes

They went to Minneapolis because they don't actually have that many goons and so thought it was a small enough city to overwhelm. But they didn't think through that it was also a small enough city for the whole city to come together and see each other resisting
I know people keep saying this but it’s hard to communicate the depth of active resistance here. Like, I’m on random cafes and people are checking in for observation shifts. Signs everywhere. Folks in visibility vests on the corners. It’s wild. Absolutely wild.

If Democrats aren’t whipping votes against ICE funding, and letting conservative members vote to pass it, it means the Democratic Party supports ICE funding.

If your opposition to fascism is performative, then you don’t actually oppose fascism.
Jeffries Won’t Whip Vote Against ICE Funding - The American Prospect
While the House Democratic leader announced personal opposition to a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security, he won’t pressure his colleagues to do the same.

As someone who spent the last 15 years working with aging brains & dementia, I can't stop thinking about this. It is gerontocracy: leaders who are substantially older than most of the adult population. When did we accept this? The new generations can't show up because the old generations never left.

yes, Dems are 100% ok with it. if they weren’t, they wouldn’t have voted for it dozens of times or tried to hit Republicans from the right for not being “serious about the border” during the 2024 election or be totally abdicate fighting against it now. but they did all that, they’re social fascists

If you followed the history of Nazi diplomacy in the years before the outbreak of WWII, it was filled with rhetoric exactly like what we are hearing from Lutnick, Bessent and Trump at Davos—lots of purely gratuitous insults. This isn't actually diplomacy, it's more like a promise of conflict.

Another reason they’re registering as Democrats is because there are millions of people who vote for Democrats not because of policy or principle, but because it’s their political sports team, whom they root for regardless of what real-world impact they have. It’s moral failure we can’t afford.
I'm watching literal Nazis register to run as Democrats because they want to either (a) trick people not paying attention (b) take advantage of the good natured people believing you can change and that's why we're here now.
Richard Hanania is a gutter racist and vile Nazi. He's not going to fight the destruction of our pluralistic society, social support systems, arts, and sciences; those are his goals.

He's an enemy who wishes Trump's reign was going better and is looking for an exit.

Do not allow him in the tent.

You must learn to hate the aristocracy as much as it hates you.
This would not happen in a democracy, which is why, if we are serious about our commitment to it, we must accept we do not currently live in democracies and that moving towards such a system would require radical change rather than faith in the status quo
