kotaku is a good website staffed by good people and it is really maddening and perplexing to me the way right wingers think a perpetually understaffed video game blog is responsible for everything they hate

Remember when literally every trans person told you that the people in power lobbying for “protections for kids” that prevented trans kids from getting the care they needed was not only EVIL AS HELL but also a gateway to allow them to stop trans healthcare all together?

WE WERE RIGHT! WE TOLD YOU!

This is not Egoraptor, but I'll say Egoraptor did irreparable harm to game difficulty discourse.
I'm older than you so I can confirm that they came with a little book that had the tutorial in it and you read it on the way home

Writers if you could drop your novel or short story into an AI and have it make a great and watchable movie out of your story, and you could sell that movie, would you do it? #writers #WritingCommunity

BREAKING: An immigration judge has *terminated* the Trump-Vance administration's efforts to deport Columbia pro-Palestine student protestor Mohsen Mahdawi.

Mohsen was first detained 10 months ago, when agents ambushed him at a citizenship interview.

every shot-on-video, made-with-a-camcorder horror movie that's just some teenage friend group fucking around in the woods with some fake blood and a monster mask contains more artistic merit, human joy and creative light than anything AI has ever made or will ever, ever make

this essay about the importance of in-person gaming communities (DDR specifically, but it pertains to a lot of similar fandoms) is really lovely imo www.mothership.blog/love-letter-...
A love letter to the rhythm game communities that helped me find myself
It was in the arcade around DDR machines that I first met people like me — kids picked on for being "weirdos," for being neurodivergent, for being queer.

Truly the most stupid timeline. At a point in time where renewable energy has tipped into genuine widespread viability, capital invents whole new ways to fabricate waste and scarcity.

I got to review the second installment of Paranormasight & much of what I loved in Seven Mysteries of Honjo still applies to The Mermaid's Curse. The new ensemble is as amazing as the first game, perhaps even stronger in some ways. It's a bit less scary, but does make you think more! It's awesome.
Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse brings a different tonal flavor compared to Honjo toning down the horror elements a smidge, in exchange for more involved puzzle-solving. Its all-new cast is as lovely as the first. https://www.rpgsite.net/review/19646-paranormasight-the-mermaids-curse-review

every time someone says "there's no putting AI back in the box just get used to it" I have to ask, "do we just write off the environmental concerns and pushing against it on those grounds because [thanos voice]it is inevitable" or are we no longer allowed to oppose bad things because they are bad

I know Capcom is busy working on video games that actually make money, but as a personal favor to me, they should hire someone to port Asura's Wrath to modern platforms. You know, for the good of the industry.

As it draws to a close, I have to say again that if you like queer sci-fi you owe it to yourself to watch Gnosia. High-concept thriller that starts off as a 'werewolf' game (finding the 'infected' human who'll kill everyone), that layer peels off fast to reveal the horrible timeloops that follow.

I asked Mewgenics' creator, Edmund McMillen, about all the touchy topics bubbling up in the game's discourse.

Why that title?
How has he changed since his early days of making provocative browser games like Dead Baby Dressup?
Why does he use real birth defects and disorders in his games?
