someone at work made something with pistachios so i started looking around. in 2024 we supplied China with 68% of its pistachio imports. then uhh… 2025 happened. our exports dropped by half. that nut gotta go somewhere
i don’t think the country wants or likes pistachios this much. so what’s going on with the pistachio industry. this is like when all those steam-in-bag crab places started popping up everywhere

this is like.. harder to do than just using a pic of the guy lol. this took EFFORT
In my experience, Brown-Forman responded to this inquiry a lot faster than usual. When I broke this story about Old Forester photoshopping its founder onto Frederick Douglass' face last year, for example, they were mum for four days after I presented them with my findings and asked for comment.

for my fellow alabamians concerned about trans rights in our state, ALTRAC has so far been a decent and simple addition to my newsletter feed talking about specific bills/state actions related to trans issues

Fire ripped through Jackson's only synagogue on Saturday, heavily damaging the historic house of worship in what authorities say was an act of arson.

Beth Israel synagogue, the largest in Mississippi, has long been a target of antisemites. It was the site of a Ku Klux Klan bombing in 1967.

Best TikTok thing going is the two dudes trying food from every country without leaving NYC. If you haven’t seen them yet, it’s incredible. My favorite so far is last week’s. Legit got me emotional.

people often imply that Alabama ranking so low in ed is because the schools must be shit and we can’t educate. every day i’m more sure that a lot of the ed resources here are fantastic - we just guard a lot of The Others from access, and turns out most of us are The Others, so we rank poorly

easily, and emphatically, The Americans

not sure i’ll ever see a show deliver an ending that well. we’ll see how Severance plays out
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

similarly, picking up a guitar or something else and making Loud Awkward Sounds with your friends is a great release valve for this type of stuff

even if it sounds bad. maybe especially if it sounds bad
my hot take is that I don't think it's this website specifically that's toxic. the Circumstances are toxic and nobody really knows what to do about it so they come online and scream. and if I may offer an alternative: actually going outside and screaming feels better.

Marine heat waves, intensified by climate change and pollution, are driving the spread of Vibrio bacteria worldwide — pathogens that can cause severe illness, including cholera and “flesh-eating” infections.
Marine heat waves and raw sewage combine to put human health at risk
Earlier this year, a spate of deaths in Florida caused by Vibrio vulnificus, known as the flesh-eating bacteria, made headlines. Infections of this kind are troublingly on the rise as ocean…
