For those of you who remember the sad demise of our neighbour’s cat, Mr Ginger, I heard yesterday that she has acquired a little black kitten to whom we will be introduced next week. ❤️👍

I got the part of the frankincense guy - I was the only child in the class who could pronounce the word ...!
Nativity plays have been a much-loved part of the school year in infant and junior schools across the UK for many years. These performances brought the Christmas story to life with a mix of earnestness and unintentional comedy. Classrooms buzzed with excitement as tea towels and

I was a shepherd. We featured in two scenes. In the first scene we walked onstage and sang a song before shuffling off. In the second scene we walked onstage, lay down and curled up as if asleep, to be woken later by the news of Jesus’s birth.

My costume included a tinsel halo which I definitely wore 24/7

Played them all: shepherd, wise man, innkeeper, narrator, and Joseph.

I also played Herod on one occasion. Does he feature in contemporary nativities?

I played Santa once too, in a less traditional nativity, which oddly took place in the local Anglican church instead of the school hall.

I was the narrator. Stood on the stage for the half-hour before the show started. With about 10 minutes before the curtains opened, I remembered my fly was open, so bent down, lifted my sutan and zipped myself up. My mum told me later I didn't need to as no one would have seen it anyway.

Despite being a pretty child, I was weird and crucially not blonde, so I never once got cast. All the roles went to little blonde girls. I pointed out that having dark hair made me a more appropriate choice but somehow that only made the teacher dislike me more. 😆

Ours was cast from Primary1-3, so in P1 I was the stable boy (on floor beside crib with fluffy lamb, kept breaking fourth wall by waving at folk). P3 I had ascended to the role of Archangel Gabriel. After that P4-7, played descant recorder then treble recorder for the carols during the nativity

I was an angel once! The robes had tinsel cuffs and they itched. And I wrote a little song (I think I was about 5, it must've been terrible) and they added it into the play for the Star to sing!

And then on the night I instinctively clapped when the audience clapped and felt deeply embarrassed.
