The three year old recently named her hands (left one is Duddie, right is Vardely). Today, I am sad to report, Duddie apparently died, via being eaten. It was okay though, he liked it. It is unclear who will take his place.

My dog was about to eat this "injured" kestrel so I had to pick it up & while deciding what to do with it it just flew off out of my hand. It was just playing dead 'cause my dog surprised it.

The ponies were piled into a mountain of salad, and the kittens feasted upon them. Meanwhile, the blanket was cajoled to play a ukulele but declined. The electric toothbrushes quaffed the tepid water again and again until the cup was spirited away. A kitten hurt his paw, and went in the pan to heal.

We have encouraged the three year old to anthropomorphise inanimate objects, but the tables were turned today when after her begrudging consumption of ten (10) chickpeas her fork and spoon suddenly started talking to each other. Swiftly they chose to leave the table and go to bed (in a bowl).

Shortly after Myrtle left this mortal coil Mathilde started sleeping in one of the nestboxes. Recently, due to the cold, Linder has started sleeping in the other one, instead of roosting as has been her lifelong habit. It's strange to think of them out there in the dark side by side, defecating.

While doing research on ancient languages for a novel I'm working on I discovered Dr. Martin Worthington at Cambridge University. After years of study, he's come up with an approximation of Akkadian. You can listen to The Epic of Gilgamesh here:
