A reminder - before Trump, MAGA, Musk and Fox rewrote history - that this is what the entire country agreed had happened five years ago today:

it really is this simple! if i encounter something i don’t know about, i just go look it up. this tactic works for everything from “how does a generator work?” to “what is an eigenvector?”; from cinematography to etymology; from eva braun to scooter braun. learning shit absolutely rules.
"How do you know that? How do you know things??"

I don't know, man. Books, essays, I continued to be curious after I was finished with formal education? It's not witchcraft, just keep learning things.

there should be a movie where a woman from a small town begrudgingly goes to the big city for the holidays and falls in love at first sight with ethiopian food
In the hallmark movies where the lady goes back home from the big city, they never talk about the game she must play pretending that the ethnic food in the small town is anywhere near as good as her family thinks it is. Just grimacing while eating mid Thai food.

Rob Reiner either made your favorite movie, or made somebody you know’s favorite movie. If you’re a Californian, he’s also part of the reason you or your friends can get married. He has changed more lives for the better than this asshole commenting on him ever did.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

I remember doing the deal for Epic Mickey, and Bob Iger shooting laser beams out his eyes at me in the Disney dining room. “Don’t let this video game fuck up Mickey.”

Oh well. That’s over.

Will Arnett was on Conan and told a story about how Conan dealt with the death of his parents by accusing Jason Bateman of killing them. It’s so funny.

This was the birth of the Pennywise smile makeup. Me doodling by my notes in a very long production meeting that was spotted by Andy and he gave a nod and a thumbs up and the next day this makeup design was on all the shiny concept art #pennywise #welcometoderry

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.

sorry it's still so funny we woke up to Dick Cheney dying today too

this was the first time i heard of zohran mamdani, and it’s the kind of energy we have been BEGGING the rest of the democrats to display. perhaps, with his historic victory, the message might begin to penetrate the sand they’ve buried their heads in.

I'm a Dodger fan and can't help but be thrilled that they won. But those Blue Jays were something else and deserve all the kudos. As one wag said on BSky when they beat the Yankees "Any team that beats the Yankees is America's team.If that's the Toronto Blue Jays, so be it. I don't make the rules."
