My experience as a football fan is that it's fun when your team wins no matter how it happens.
In my opinion, winning is amazing and the additional "my team that won was also the best team according to objective metrics" that online fans seem to need reflects a failure to cherish the experience of winning

Even when men were in charge of everything, they were miserable sods. More guys need to read history books, or even the Bible beyond their Magic 8 Ball verses.
I think what pieces like this show is that, foundationally most of these guys don't even have a *positive* vision of conservative masculinity for themselves, and the version they're adopting clearly isn't fulfulling them either. It's just grievance and resentment all the way down
