I have certainly had a bad take on something in the past. The libs I know couldn’t spot it but my leftist friends did. The thing I respect about leftism is the acceptance of fewer excuses for moral failings. Sometimes this edges into unproductive purity testing but overall it works
I guess it's because I grew up in the radical left, but I have such a hard time getting in the heads of those who are instead enmeshed in non-leftist circles and thus fantastically imagine "The Left" as some noble coalition of good people with good takes, with anything else as dismissible exception.

Not just elections. I still think back on doing traffic safety for a small march in a northern suburb of Denver and having the cops literally redirecting traffic back at us. When one of us went to ask them to stop actively endangering ppl, the cop said "can't, we've been defunded."
the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
