I get the feeling that a lot of the "the best reaction is to do nothing and not have anything going on" people have been doing that the entire time but now feel it gives them moral righteousness.

I support the people wearing the costumes to the protests. I support being silly and mocking the cops, because it’s good for morale and that matters. But it is not a tactic for meaningfully resisting the violence of a fascist state. It will not change the “optics.”

The only people who can be reached by good faith tactics are people already engaging in good faith. Anyone reasonable enough to be on your side is already there.

You cannot reason with someone whose entire purpose is to be unreasonable.
