This is a validation of the Jeffries strategy to hold firm on clean 3-year ACA funding while Republicans fought amongst themselves. Rather than endorse a compromise plan he calculated that vulnerable Rs would see this as the only game in town and buckle.

Centrist Republicans revolt, signing a petition to force a vote on Obamacare funding
The enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies are still expected to expire at the end of this year, however, raising insurance premiums for millions of Americans.

And that silence relies on a shared racial understanding that doesn’t need to be spoken because it is ingrained: That white men are and have been the most qualified and the only true meritocratic hires, that their rightful place is on top. So there is no need to speak to the past.

The ONLY way this entire “exposè” works is to be absolutely silent and unquestioning about why white men disproportionately held these positio s for generations, why they STILL disproportionately hold these positions despite some minor changes in a single age-cohort. That silence is required.
I read that whole “it sucks to be a millennial white man thanks to DEI” piece and have some thoughts.

Overall: how sad to put that much work into making a case to be resentful, and a bad case at that. (Thread)

Two babies were born in New York within a year of each other, soon after WWII.

One, Rob Reiner, lived a life of humanity and achievement. He brought us delight and joy. His memory will be a blessing.

The other, Donald Trump, will be remembered as an embarrassment to our nation.

One more example of "the Woke Right" narrative, where the right tries to frame members who have gone too far as actually sort of leftist. In Fuentes case, it is the overt nature of the anti-semitism. Dreher has no problem working for a govt whose leader (Orban) engages in dog-whistle anti-semitism.

No one shld lose sight of the fact that the Guard was only in DC as part of an extended political messaging stunt. The shooter is guilty for the attacks/carnage. Donald Trump is responsible for them. This is the collateral damage of Trump abusing his powers as President.

The military service drafted a new policy that classifies them as “potentially divisive.”

Could the Epstein Files kerfuffle take down Trump? Sure, maybe. Which could end up with Russell Vought and Steve Miller transferring allegiance to a MJT or Tucker Carlson or whomever. Don't take your eye off the big picture. It's the fascism, stupid.

There’s no need to overthink it or give this administration credit for strategy on this issue. Contempt for the poor is a foundational plank in the Republican belief system. This administration is more ruthless than previous GOP admins, but this is just who Republicans are and have been for decades.
