See me outside our half Quonset hut, (Soundview, Bronx, 1947)

Nihil nisi tenebris.
I think Harris did just that. All campaigns are crushingly boring if you listen to them over a period of time because they stay on message. But that’s what you gotta do. Let us kneel together and pray that the message is not “strong floor, no ceiling.” Stay safe.

I doubt we differ on much politically. But I am pretty certain that messaging has not been our problem. The other side’s messaging has been terrible and disgusting. But by exploiting the weaknesses in our constitution and the worst instincts of our fellow citizens they win.

Kleptocratic, sadistic, rapist?Too unspecific. Monster? Too general. There is a broad program of calculated destruction of the America we believe in well underway. It is a grand strategy that the right wing has been implementing since before Reagan. The “president” and his antics are distractions.

I’d use a sharp knife and save money and fingers.

Straw man.

Do you think the Democratic leadership is arguing that the faltering economy is a distraction? I think Willis is, in this case, making no sense. Seems like reflexive discontent and, to my mind, counterproductive.

Guess I don’t know what “brutal” means.
December 19, 2025 at 4:34 PM
I think it is a hard case to make that he “wants Americans to die in a Venezuelan war.” That may be a consequence of his behavior but not a goal. The goal may or may not be distraction.

Well who would have thought? We are ever outside and other. They do not consider us part of them. Never will. No state? Eventually no people.

The practice of describing adult monsters as children and thinking it is an insight is self aggrandizing psychobabbling bullshit.

If Dan Goldman did not propose that Muslims be expelled(which he did not, quite the opposite ) then Lander is more of an asshole than I had thought. Or is that Mehdi’s handicraft.

Appalling ignorance, hatred, and self-unawareness on rampant display. Good grief. Anything grotesque is possible in a world so populated.
December 18, 2025 at 4:57 PM
There was a time when the world was divided into the “cool” and the “square.” I suppose
“normie” is the new “square”.
But, to be honest, not much about the current culture seems very “cool.”
December 18, 2025 at 5:02 AM
I am sure we are not far apart. Be well.

Owens. And as an old man, educated in the mid 20th century, between the he beats and the hippies I have no idea what segment of society “ normies” are.
December 18, 2025 at 4:55 AM
I owe you an explanation. To
my way of thinking, no one, and I do mean no one, who takes the ideas of characters like Owen seriously is normal. They are warped in some way. They may send their kids to the same school as my granddaughter, sound sane on the checkout line but nah!!!

Oh yes. The failure to do research is the shortcoming. Professional, well travelled, college educated, wealthy men have failed to do the necessary research to disabuse them of a belief that is on its face preposterous. Nonsense.

This is a validation of the Jeffries strategy to hold firm on clean 3-year ACA funding while Republicans fought amongst themselves. Rather than endorse a compromise plan he calculated that vulnerable Rs would see this as the only game in town and buckle.

The enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies are still expected to expire at the end of this year, however, raising insurance premiums for millions of Americans.

Seville is an amazing city. We stayed up the street from Setas. Two restaurants. Castizo on Zaragoza and Bar La Bartola were fun.

And that silence relies on a shared racial understanding that doesn’t need to be spoken because it is ingrained: That white men are and have been the most qualified and the only true meritocratic hires, that their rightful place is on top. So there is no need to speak to the past.
