So close….
Just $22.19 left to go crowdfunding this insulated cat shelter for the strays we care for, then I can concentrate fully on dealing with the $1,000 in late rent and bills we're trapped under, not to mention all the upcoming rent and bills. Please help us!

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

The administration citing upcoming sham elections as a reason for ending the protected status is particularly odious.
The administration just announced the end of TPS status designation for Burma, which will affect anyone from Burma in the U.S. with TPS status right now.

About 90,000 people living near larger chemical plants face an unacceptable risk of developing cancer, the EPA says.

New rules adopted last year could’ve cut that number to 3,000 residents — a drop of 97%.

But Trump has halted those efforts.

For now, suffice it to say how depressing it is that the federal government is putting its authority behind this incorrect, decontextualized, and frankly boring vision of history at the same time that it is cutting funding for the NEH and attacking the Smithsonian's independence.
