Decriminalizing sex work would ALSO help against many of the criminal abuses I'm glad to see so many caring about of late.

Behn: My biggest pet peeve in politics is when people who don’t live in the South say, “You get what you voted for.” I didn’t vote for the highest maternal mortality rate in the country. I didn’t vote for the highest inflationary cost of groceries in the country.

DHS agents investigating sexual crimes against children have been redeployed to the immigrant crackdown.

A probe into the black market for Iranian oil sold to finance terrorism has been slowed down because of the shift.

And efforts to combat human smuggling have languished.

Gotta love how Jon Karl and ABC News had this graphic ready to go *the very moment* that Hassett rolled out his Walmart anecdote.

“The originalist tradition of the Signature Policy Doctrine,” by Randy Barnett. Dropping tomorrow in the Hillsdale College-Oath Keepers Journal of Law and Nutritional Supplements.
Bessent on tariffs: "This is one of President Trump's signature policies, and traditionally the Supreme Court does not interfere with a president's signature policy."

I've been going with "the Major Questions Doctrine as originally conceived only applies to Democratic presidents and it would be disregarding precedent to apply it to a Republican" but I appreciate that they've found a less-obviously-corrupt spin even if it's also laughably false

I can reassure the New York Times that networks of mutual protection, and misogynist retaliation efforts that benefit abusive men at the expense of the young women they prey upon, are very much still intact post-Me Too.
This is nauseating: “As the emails stretch through the years, they show how that protected realm vanished into the mists of time, pulled under by the rising forces of the internet and the #MeToo movement.” A “Gone With the Wind” framing for sexual abuse and harassment.
Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

The reason why most women my age couldn't care less if Bill Clinton goes down with the ship is that we were teens & young women when the Anita Hill and Monica Lewinsky scandals happened. It's rotten to the core. All the way down. Your "lost" era is not ours.

The paradox of the elite is that their most sought-after quality is “smart.” But they’re mostly not smart enough to tell if someone is smart.

One consequence of this is that elite spaces are dominated by people who have learned to sound smart to non-smart people, often by saying stupid things.
and the thing that comes across from the correspondence is this guy is just a fucking gross moron! I don't mean the spelling and punctuation - there's zero content there, his grasp of everything is at best shallow and normally outright nonsense.
