They truly believe this! Like when they arrest a noncitizen who committed a crime years ago and has been out of prison for a decade, they put out a press release claiming they saved the public from a serious threat, even if the person has been law-abiding for years and is a random ex-con doing well.
To paraphrase what an ICE field director said at a Texas hiring event earlier this year: what makes ICE different from other law enforcement officers is that we catch criminals "before" a crime is committed.
NEW: ICE has finally released post-shutdown detention data. The latest data reveals that a full 40%(!) of people arrested in the interior and held in ICE detention have no criminal record; no criminal charges or prior convictions. That is up from just 4% when Trump took office.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but it is perfectly fine to use either "less" or "fewer" in this context. (Unpopular but correct opinion.) A strict insistence on "fewer" here is a hypercorrection.

I could not possibly agree more, but if it’s going to happen it means convincing a sizeable portion of MAGA Republicans, which is almost all of them, to break ranks and remember the oaths they took to the Constitution instead of their fear of that orange bastard.
Impeachment isn’t an option, it’s a necessity. I know firsthand the lengths Trump is willing to go in order to silence dissent.

In heraldry, "canting arms", a "cant" being a pun. The Lucy family in England inherited a lucy-fish on their arm. (Heraldic art often being sucky, how could you tell it was a lucy specifically? Great question!) The Talbot lords inherited a talbot (dog breed). (Same question? Same non-answer!)
