Today I saw a doctor put a mask on to see us… no asking. He saw a mask, he wore a mask.

Doesn’t sound like much, but it still meant a lot.

When Mona Parsons, from Nova Scotia, was imprisoned for being a part of the Dutch Resistance during WWII in Holland, she was tasked with knitting socks for German soldiers. She knit knots in the soles to create blisters on their feet as an act of defiance. I think about that a lot. Knots.

My friend Gertrude Lynley writes lovely Christiesque mystery novellas and the first in her series just got a very nice review. Highly recommend if you’re looking for some comfort reading.
Death Came Secondhand (2022) by Gertrude Lynley
Charity shops are not an overly mined setting or background for a mystery. Elizabeth Ferrars had some bloodied garments brought to a charity shop in The Pretty Pink Shroud (1977), but the charity s…

Fuck the United States. It’s long past time the rest of the world stood up to its bullying and the way it throws around its economic weight to force other countries to act as it wants them to.

Now that US economic aggression is even hitting Western allies, will they finally rein in the US?

I really don't want to see members of Congress posting on social media. I think you folks need to be in some meetings working on a plan to wrest control of our government back from that man from South Africa. Feels like there's nothing else you folks need to be doing.

Literally any politician in DC right now can seize the mantle of leadership by simply holding an outdoor presser saying "this shit is unacceptable"! Instant frontrunner for whatever office they sought in 2026 or 2028 by a fucking MILE.

It was so nice to chat with @johnbrooks.bsky.social and @kellyjbaker.bsky.social about Victorian Christmas!
Tomorrow, we take a closer look at a claim that has been gaining traction in recent years for a variety of reasons: Did Charles Dickens really "invent" Christmas?

@kellyjbaker.bsky.social and @johnbrooks.bsky.social are joined by the wonderful @khandozo.bsky.social for a little Christmas special!

There's a lot of chickenshit weasel jargon in media but "critics say" is easily among the worst. Which critics? Are they correct to say so?
Fuck me, the headline writers do not have to hide behind "critics": Patel is unqualified an entry level job, no-one in the real world would hire him, and he would be the most grotesquely unqualified choice to head the CIA since its creation.
