The way to make money is to make something good.
The way to make more money is to make the good thing as shitty as possible.

As a not-very-well-known NZ author I did not expect to find myself in there, but I was. If you've published a book, check if you're there, and add yourself to the class action (see the reply to this post for the link)
Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

One impact of everything being streaming now is I can't watch, and there's no obvious way to buy, a BBC show that's being advertised to me because I'm in the US. Without physical media, governments can tightly control what cultural influences their subjects can see.

Ever think about the fact that all the strife in the world is caused by a handful of assholes playing with everyone's lives.

And people who don't want any of it outnumber them by the billions, yet the people on the same side are divided by stupid shit so we do nothing about it?

I do.

This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?
