@gelliottmorris.com I'd be interested to compare the growth of independents with Trump disapproval among them. Wondering how many of those are folks who have left the GOP over him. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/trump-hits...

Sort of a roundabout way to say "He has no idea what he's doing," but okay.
The Trump administration is rapidly escalating its pressure campaign against Venezuela, even as President Trump’s aides provide conflicting accounts of what, exactly, they are seeking to achieve. nyti.ms/49nV4PY

You do not under any circumstances "Gotta hand it to Marjorie Taylor Greene" and all that, but this would be a remarkable admission from any politician, let alone Taylor Greene.
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

US hardcore lads Hüsker Dü, going within two years from straight-ahead noisemaking with 'Everything Falls Apart", to tapping into Beatles and psychedelia/folk influence and wrangling the manifold hurts and healings of "Zen Arcade" out of themselves, must have been like getting shot out of a cannon.
Good evening Bluesky. What do you think is the sharpest rise in quality between a first album and a second album?

My choice is from "Frank" to "Back In Black" by Amy Winehouse.

@jfruh.bsky.social Editor: Dennis the Menace's minister appears to have stickers for the Blue Man Group and pretzels on his tippet, worn over a flax(? Let's go with flax)-colored surplice and a clerical turtle neck. Modern religion has gone too far!

This may not be entirely fair but a reason I don’t think mayor Pete has It is because he polled zero percent among Black voters, the demographic which - can’t say this without sounding condescending but - usually gets it right, early, when it comes to candidates

Maybe all of this will settle down again in a few weeks, but it's hard to see how the rest of Trump's term isn't completely taken up by dealing with the fallout of Epstein and other misdeeds.

Fact check: true.
Bill Donohue of the Catholic League covering down on Megyn Kelly's "fucking teenagers is OK, actually" spiel is one of the LEAST surprising things to come out of this.
Holy shit. They're really doing it. They're doing "actually pedophilia is good now." The debasement of the American Right is complete.

[SCENE: AMERICAN LIVING ROOM. MOM, DAD AND JUNIOR SIT FACING ONE ANOTHER. MOM ANGRILY SCROLLS JUNIOR'S PHONE.]

JUNIOR: But Moooom, the president likes teenage girls in bikinis! Why can't I?

Dad: By gum, I think he's got us on a technicality.

[MOM LOOKS UP FROM PHONE, DOPE SLAPS JUNIOR AND DAD.]

Is it too much to hope that in the interregnum between Mike Johnson's ouster and the Democratic onslaught that we see the brief tenure of Speaker MTG?
this one is a mistake
Trump un-endorses Marjorie Taylor Greene

This is solidly into the writing style of elderly bachelors worked up about how BARABBAS means "Son of the Father," and something something fluoridated water.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

Should it bother me that I both think this is monstrous authoritarianism at work and kind of want to see what they find out?
In normal times, it would be a major scandal for the President to direct his AG to criminally investigate his political opponents to deflect from his own involvement in a major scandal — and for the AG to immediately announce she is doing it. The Epstein scandal and cover up just got even bigger.

• Most useless thing to do on Bluesky: implore people not to fall for outrage bait

• Second most useless thing to do on Bluesky: implore people to remember that not every minister person who wears a clerical collar is a Catholic priest

Previous post deleted because two seconds after it went up, I saw this identifying a different Protestant minister. C'est la Bluesky.
Note: The pastor being thrown to the ground and arrested here while protesting outside an ICE facility here — who police single out — appears to be Rev. Michael Woolf, a Baptist pastor (he’s ordained by both American Baptist Churches USA and Alliance of Baptists).
at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd.

he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him.

situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.

Weird not to lead with the item most people will immediately glom onto: they let her have a pet puppy.

Read the whole thread, but this is key. Invest less in messaging and more in messengers, forever.
And while gifted leaders can sometimes accomplish this with rhetoric, the most reliable methods are rooted in ongoing face-to-face relationships, within organizations whose purposes are *not* directly political. The target audience is not “usual suspects” who already show up to political meetings.

Somewhere in South Florida, a hand shoots up from the loose soil of a grave. The bloody quest for revenge has begun, and it will not end until it reaches the White House.
