I was reading earlier about a feudal uprising where a Duke's son was killed early on by the rebels. They used trebuchet they'd captured to knock him off the battlements. They were trying to toss the decapitated heads of castle guards and loyal serfs over the wall.
This was a common tactic back then-

Please, tell me again how I'm wrong when I say that the GOP isn't just racist, they're genuinely fascist when they think no one is in the room with them.

I'm not paranoid: I just understand the GOP better than the people who tell me I'm wrong. www.politico.com/news/2025/10...

"The richest man in the world and the owner of the most influential social media site in US politics is a nazi who openly supports and amplifies other nazis" would, on its face, seem to be rather newsworthy!

Hey news people: I know you like to pretend this doesn't exist, but you need to pay attention to the Nazi drama on Twitter. Basically, it seems as if Elon just restored two major neo-Nazi accounts that were banned by his product head, and might be about to fire the product head for banning them

the broad public does not like chaos and disorder and everything you can do to emphasize that it is the federal government that is responsible for chaos and disorder is a point in your favor. it’s classic nonviolent confrontation!

95% of the files are not subject to privacy restrictions, as the Federal Court that DOJ tried to blame has repeatedly said.
Grand Jury transcripts are sealed by the Court. Not the vast majority of the documents the government holds.

Judge won't unseal transcripts of grand jury that indicted Epstein ex-girlfriend Maxwell
The judge says releasing the transcripts would risk unraveling the foundations of secrecy upon which the grand jury is premised.

The big thing is that these employers think the labor market should only work one way and that jobseekers shouldn't have requirements for salary or workplace life or whatever.
And younger people don't agree with them on that score.

Bullshit. If you need people you hire, and if you want young employees that you want to stick around you find the ones who share your values or you PAY MORE.

Sick to death of this Young People Today crap.

They did that because the desire to hate Democrats for Not Being Perfect is greater than the desire to hate fascists for being evil incarnate.

The many media outlets, politicians, and commentators who rushed to declare “a great peace, glory to the king!” should ask themselves why they did that, and figure out how to not make the same mistake again.

You cannot capitulate enough to satisfy an audience that actively demands to be lied to, and has abundant eager suppliers for that demand, while also retaining the audience that wants real reporting. You can very easily try to go halfsies and lose both, though.

Lots of comments saying Bezos did this on purpose, which is absolutely part of it. But billionaires also have insane egos and think they're smarter than everyone else and assume everyone agrees with their viewpoints, so there's some of that in here too

So many similarities to GOP candidate Nixon dispatching Kissinger to sabotage LBJ's Vietnam talks, initiating a horrendous Cambodian bombing campaign after winning the 1968 election - only to sign essentially the same deal in 1973 that LBJ had put together 5 years earlier.

“Many fear they’re more violent”.

More weasel words, because journalism isn’t witnessing and reporting truth any more, it’s dutifully recording opposing views and reporting nothing.

NEW: Statement from Cardinal Blaise Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago, on ICE activities in the city.

Implicitly refers to tactics used by ICE/DHS as “unnecessarily aggressive” and “seem to be intended to terrorize and cause chaos, rather than fulfilling the noble calling of law enforcement.”
Here's Cardinal Cupich's statement:
In this moment it is important to state clearly that keeping the nation safe and respecting human dignity are not mutually exclusive. In fact one cannot exist without the other. The safety of a nation cannot come at the expense of violations of human dignity and surely the dignity of the undocumented can never be violated by unnecessarily aggressive tactics that go far beyond the task of apprehending people and which seem to be intended to terrorize and cause chaos, rather than fulfilling the noble calling of law enforcement. No one working in this noble calling should be put in the position of acting this way. Not only do they risk violating the dignity of others but such activity is beneath their own dignity.

If she likes what Trump is doing with ICE, then she should be able to articulate that in her own terms.
Saying *you can't say that because it's disrespectful to xxx" is about trying to shutdown discussion of xxx.
It's an intellectually and morally dishonest tactic.

This is a really important point.

They want “meme authoritarianism.”

They want rage.

They’re getting frogs & aging hippies.

Not great optics—for them.

But great for us: you build a movement by showing folks that they’re part of an energized and hopeful “us.”

Let’s go!

one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—and It Quickly Backfires on Trump
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA skewers the absurdity of these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why our best recourse will be to turn out in force.

They'll decide how they feel about it and her trying to infantilize them for political points is wildly disrespectful.
