My column from Monday. Some lessons for our time from epic poetry: Monsters are inevitable; heroes are not. There are boundaries not even the most ruthless can cross. And, as the Irish bard Antaine Raiftearai said, in the times of struggle stand the righteous.
The small fights for democracy are the epics of our time | Alabama Reflector

That “Zootopia 2” is as fresh, funny and densely packed as the first film feels like a miracle, but the truth is that there’s nothing miraculous about it: it’s just made by humans who put a lot of heart, humor and a whole lot of movie references into this long-awaited sequel.
Review: ‘Zootopia 2’ delivers wit and charm of original and then some
It’s been nine years since “Zootopia” charmed audiences (and won an Oscar), and the bright, brash sequel still has the juice.

As the immigration blitz wound down, an Uptown couple breathed a sigh of relief. Then they were torn apart.
Less than a day before Eva Gurtovaia was to become a U.S. citizen, federal agents detained her Kurdish husband, who was authorized to work in the country.

It's easy to be numb because it's par for the course nowadays, but repeatedly calling a reporter who asks a reasonable question "stupid" is conduct unbecoming for a small-town mayor, let alone the President of the United States.

The press exists to play a watchdog role, not be a supplicant.
“You’re a stupid person” — Trump lashes out at a reporter who presses him on the fact that the suspected DC shooter was actually thoroughly vetted before he was let in the US from Afghanistan
