At this point it is very clear the only big problem with congestion pricing was that Hochul set the toll too low so it isn't working optimally.

I know it’s a tired exercise at this point, but try to imagine if Mamdani or any other progressive had a family member say something 1/10th as racist as this and what the media response would look like

i don't get the love for waymo in certain urbanist circles. it's safer cars, at least it seems that way from available data, but it's more cars. more cars are bad! we should want less cars!

Not the first i’ve read about big business interfering with regulations in Europe lately, would be a shame if the most enviable regulatory environment on earth was weakened by billionaires and big business.
1. The European Parliament’s attempt to ban plant-based foods from being sold as “sausages”, “burgers” etc is a direct response to livestock industry lobbying. This is a short thread on how utterly bleeding ridiculous it is. 🧵1/6

the goal for all these brunchlord centrist types, to be clear, is to undermine and pre-empt good faith progressive reform as THE solution to authoritarianism, in favor of yet another wave of reheated deregulatory corporatism.

🚨new article🚨

"Polarisation" has become one of those terms commonly used to discuss the dire state of politics and democracy today

Here @juanroch.bsky.social, @daniel-balinhas.bsky.social and I argue that this simplistic framing is counterproductive

"Mr. Burns, your campaign seems to have the momentum of a runaway freight train. Why are you so popular?"
For my part, I would say that questioning the framing of some Times stories—for example, the highlighting of Trump’s putative emotions or the foregrounding of what he says (even when, as is often the case, what he says is false)—is not an indication that I want my “views validated.”

The actual solution to this problem would also stop Vickie Paladino's upstanding, socially well-connected constituents from doing 45 MPH through a residential neighborhood and through school zones in their Escalade, so I'm not holding my breath on a real solution.
Speed bumps probably wouldn't have stopped last week's violent car street takeover in Vickie Paladino's Northeast Queens district.

But something needs to be done about the wide open intersections that invite reckless driving in neighborhoods all over the city. nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/11/24/s...

If you are defending a bad faith, organized public attack on a random trans TA you are not, in fact, a defender of trans rights.

2. My voice is not some singular thing - bike advocacy is a small part of my makeup-you don’t like me or my position on things refer to point 1

The DC shooting story is really getting to me because we literally trained this man as a child soldier for a death squad in a forever war and Stephen Miller et al want to blame it on other cultures? It's our culture, American culture, that killed that woman.

The problem with most cook books is they are filled with recipes real Americans hate. That's why I'm writing a new cook book filled with classic, popular recipes like ham & bananas and bologna and mayo cake.

Not kidding when I say they should fund the free buses by actually enforcing driving and parking rules. Walk around any neighborhood of NYC for an hour and you will witness ~30 ticketable offenses. Everyone will get around faster if people follow the rules. Iron-fist it. Cameras on every stoplight.

Trump is filling his government with Nazis, consolidating authoritarian power, and eroding democracy at every chance.

And yet these 86 House Democrats voted for a right-wing messaging amendment to say that the real authoritarians are the socialists.

Pathetic.

I don't see any good reason why the fine for speeding if you get caught by a camera is significantly lower, or why you don't lose points on your license. This seems like an incredibly easy thing to fix though!
Faster license suspension and imposition of points seems like a very easy middle ground here. NY courts often plea moving violations down to parking tickets; our automated enforcement in the city doesn't impose points. (More from me on the cameras soon...)

Thinking about the article that ran in our neighborhood paper last year that argued eliminating street dining areas would solve double parking and just laughing/crying as I see cars now TRIPLE parked on our local commercial corridor
You have 1 week left to enjoy outdoor dining in NYC before they are ripped out
