It’s a good day for Hennepin County voters to listen to this Code Switch interview with @petermancina.bsky.social, the author of On the Side of Ice: Policing Immigrants in a Sanctuary State.

(And yes, there’s a transcript, for the podcast-averse among us)

Don't take doom from our struggle, take *hope*
I’m watching friends succumb to doom watching what’s happening in Minnesota and I want to shake them and scream “Can’t you see the people organizing? Can’t you see them winning?”. Doom is a warm blanket of helplessness that keeps you from the fight.
doom is cope, everybody's saying it

One of the taco trucks who serves on our patio (not the tues/fri, but more irregularly) reached out. The owner & his family have been unable to work for over a month and are struggling. We have confirmed this venmo. If you want to “buy lunch” from them, please do.

American Indian Movement (AIM) patrol trucks have been spotted around NE and folks are flagging them as suspicious and giving them unwelcoming glances because they don’t know who they are. This is the AIM logo and flag, which you might see on their trucks. They are friends!

The Powderhorn Park neighborhood has been the biggest target of immigration enforcement in Minnesota. It’s home to a large immigrant community who is now struggling to pay rent. Kidnappings are on the rise because people cannot stay home. Please help us out. Link is in my bio.

Twin Cities metro folks! If you need supplies you can have delivered via an Amazon wish list, get in touch with @lefttheprairie.bsky.social or @mostlybree.kitrocha.com.
It is extremely plausible that y’all demolish this wishlist today. Get in touch with me or Bree if your group in Minneapolis has a wish list we can let people loose on. Maybe groceries or other supplies?
As promised, we are back with a second wishlist for our friends in Minneapolis!

This time @naomikritzer.bsky.social is helping out by being our local contact who will receive all the goodies you send!

As always, you can avoid the 'zon at our GFM!
