plot too on the nose, send it back for rewrites
During the sentencing, the mayor was hours away from jetting off to Uzbekistan, a particularly rich coincidence. Bahi, once the mayor’s liaison to the Muslim community, had admitted that he’d orchestrated the straw donation scheme through an Uzbek contractor based in Brooklyn.
Eric Adams Aide Sentenced in Campaign Fundraising Scheme — With the Mayor’s Absence Noted
Mohamed Bahi was given three years’ probation and a year of home confinement by the same judge forced to drop the mayor’s case. He had withering words for Adams, who was headed to Uzbekistan.

Keep Mamdani beholden to the people, not to wealthy megadonors.

Support a transition funded by grassroots donations, rather than the billionaires who are used to controlling this process!

Worth remembering that Bloomberg rode the subway every day to work. It's completely reasonable to expect Mamdani to ride public transit daily, and we *should* demand that of him!

Just because DeBlasio and Adams abandoned transit riders doesn't mean it has to be this way
Why *does* the mayor of Subway City always end up in the back of a Suburban? There are good reasons: Security, productivity, travel to non-Manhattan destinations. And a bad reason: Habit.

Zohran Mamdani spent his mayoral campaign riding the subway and biking around — but the demands of City Hall may test his transit habit.

Zohran Mamdani needs grassroots support to fund his transition, because unlike most other mayors, he's NOT relying on wealthy megadonors to fund it for him.

They're only at 25% of their goal - donate now!

I cannot express how important it is for anyone going through a secured checkpoint like TSA to make sure thier phone is in BFU (Before First Unlock) mode. To enter this state: reboot your phone and don't unlock it.

In BFU mode all data is encrypted and your phone requires a passcode to unlock.
I was just asked for my phone (to swipe the outside for whatever) for the 1st time during a “random” TSA extra screening for a domestic flight - i told them i didn’t consent to a search of the phone, made sure there were no notifications visible & it was locked and didn’t let it out of my sight…

@govpritzker.illinois.gov I want you to watch this video of me slammed to the ground- why are you allowing this to happen to people you know are on the right side of history. They tied my hands behind my back and when I asked them to be loosened because I was going numb they said, “STFU.”
at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd.

he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him.

situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.

My friend just revealed that he thought INDECENT PROPOSAL (1993) was a reality TV show with the same premise as the actual movie ("couple gets $1M if the wife sleeps with a stranger").

okay so why is this post still up & account still existing? actual question. the account isn’t even verified like some of the other fed gov accounts either, but also it shouldn’t matter when they post “we will kill you” along with videos of them killing people.

nothing is funnier than rightoids being like “Hehe your favs are also in the epstein files” as if my favs ever included a former Democratic president and known sex pest

The reality is prisons don't even give the bare minimum:

"We got five rolls of single-ply per month... If you had money and the timing worked out right, you could potentially buy more on commissary. If not, you used notebook paper, magazines, newspapers."
Toilet paper. Dignity. And other things I lacked in prison.
For all the scarcities, there are plenty of other things. Regret. Broken people. Shame. If you're lucky, you can manage to steal moments of hope, even in the dark places.

Rather than trivializing how much toilet paper Ghislaine Maxwell has access to behind bars, remember that most incarcerated people have little to their name.

Toilet paper isn't a luxury – it's a basic necessity.
Apparently, Ghislaine Maxwell is living it up in prison with unlimited toilet paper. Here’s what we know about her alleged special privileges at her new federal prison camp in Texas.

If you use GenAI to avoid reading my correspondence with you, you are telling me that you don't respect me enough to interact with me directly.

Which is something I will definitely keep in mind for any future correspondence with you.
I also think GenAI summaries of conversations and personal emails are fucking wack and disrespectful

Either you have time to genuinely engage with what someone said or you don’t

Ghislaine Maxwell is being treated as a literal billionaire in prison (using the currency that has actual value behind bars).

That is absolutely the headline news, and even if you were confused about it, clicking through and reading the first couple of paragraphs would easily elucidate.
unlimited toilet paper *is* a luxury in prison! it shouldn’t be! but it is! that’s why it’s pointed out! maxwell is being treated better (like a person) than everyone else only because she said trump isn’t a pedophile! this isn’t difficult to understand!

People are roasting this lede, but NYM is actually correct to print it. Toilet paper is so scarce in prisons that it is sometimes used as a currency.

It shouldn't be restricted, for any person, but the fact that it isn't for her (and her alone) is a sign of extremely special treatment.
