I’m starting to piece things together

I’ve connected the dots

This is 100% just viewing a perennial question in the current mood of the time.

It’s projection. Would *we* want to meet us?

And me asking that question is *also* projection, because that’s what we do.
The Fermi paradox asks why we've yet to find evidence of intelligent extraterrestrial life. The odds are we should!

A NASA scientist suggests that "alien societies might plateau at modest technological levels and even grow bored with exploration."

I keep feeling like I’m being scraped forward into ever more ridiculous technologies that sound sort of dystopian when I say them aloud.

No. Even if it’s worse, it’s better.

There is no world in which Schumer staying in power makes any goddamned sense.
I’m telling you, be careful what you wish for with replacing Schumer…..

"I hope you die" is boring, predictable

"I hope your favorite franchise adds a wacky chungus sidekick that yells gameplay hints at you" is real, terrifying, possible, and is in fact happening to me right now

Jeffrey Epstein reading the first 100 pages of Lolita and stopping: "Holy shit this sounds great! Everything's gonna work out!"
did not have Harvard English professor Elisa New emailing Jeffrey Epstein about Lolita on my 2025 bingo card

I’m calling it; Trump will be the United States’ first presidential “suicide.”
He’s panicking.

The Liberal urge to do damage control for the opposition is in full force here
One caution I'd offer as everyone goes through these emails is that *Jeffrey Epstein* (of all people) saying something in an email does not automatically make it true!

I think there are people who consider me a “weekend warrior” because I often do a five mile ruck on the weekends.

But I’m doing heavy weightlifting during the week, too.

Tomorrow is an “absolute rest” day.

Today’s workout is kicking my ass. I’m gonna finish it, but only out of spite.

Give a man a fish and someone with a thousand fishes is going to bitch about people getting free handouts. Teach a man to fish? Yeah, that person with a thousand fishes is going to bitch about that too.

I think I’d have less of a problem with language policing if it had absolutely any positive effect for anyone other than the (often self-appointed) hall monitors of civil society.

I’m glad Pynchon wrote another book, but no one will ever be allowed to take his place.

I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

"The dog that didn't bark"

is a famous clue from a Sherlock Holmes story,

"The Adventure of Silver Blaze,"

where the absence of a guard dog's barking

indicates the thief was someone familiar with the dog.

Today’s Democratic voters? Probably Nixon
Which Democratic Party elected official is so beloved that implication in Epstein rapes would cause Democratic Party voters to rethink their politics?

JFK? FDR?

The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.
