Trump literally doesn't know that University of Missouri exists
Columbia and Northwestern are the academic homes to the most prestigious journalism schools in the country and they are the two universities that caved to the Trump administration’s extortion demands that are directly connected to the First Amendment. Just gonna sit with that for a while.

I would pay my bills so I could get through college without so much worry.
I want to work. I want to help people.
UBI wouldn't change that. It would just make my goals less stressful to achieve.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

This is true, but it deserves some explanation.

Axes of oppression beyond workers vs. bosses exist. And people who aspire to class solidarity should be able to acknowledge these axes of oppression and incorporate class struggle into specific types of oppression & discrimination.

Just as some country's (e.g. Finland), are finding that it is cheaper to house the unhoused than not, the world may eventually realise that it is cheaper to prevent #LongCOVID, than not -

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT. as @heidikitrosser.bsky.social has noted, the northwestern faculty had just voted overwhelmingly against exactly this kind of capitulation.
BTW, any story about a possible Northwestern capitulation should include this detail (screenshot is from the oped linked below)

Do not let Bush 43 attorneys "off the hook". They were criminals. That Trump is a bigger criminal does not absolve them.
Ed Whelan was Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for OLC from 2001-2004, so when he suggests that laws of war have been violated by the executive branch, that’s… something
Does Pete Hegseth have a "golden shield" against prosecution in the form of a DOJ OLC opinion? Ed Whelan thinks not.

To be explicit, we executed a German U-Boat commander who said he had to sink lifesaving gear / “inadvertently” kill survivors because it might give away his position, thereby potentially resulting in the loss of his submarine.

We executed multiple members of that crew.
Heinz-Wilhelm Eck might have something to say about this one.

I know it's more reassuring to believe that people in other countries spread racism in the west but the truth is they just found ways to profit off the racism that was already there

Just shows what we've already known: CEOs are expendable.
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

People condemning Saudi Arabia about [abuses] on social media are not going to change policy in Saudi Arabia.

They are, however, contributing to Islamophobia that makes it possible to harm Muslims in other countries.

Media outlets who refuse to use AI should say so and explain their policies for preventing contributors from submitting AI content.

The "we need guns to protect from the government infringing on our rights" crowd haven't protected the people in the post 9/11 era.
The so called, “gun rights” movement has never been about protecting the populace’s right to bear arms. It’s only class elite’s desire to control the working class with violence and maintaining control under the false pretense of liberty. It’s on display with their unequal application of this right.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

This war is going to involve executing a large number of the pro-slavery side.

Liberals really want to use Islamophobia to peal away some support for Trump.
Pretty remarkable that Trump has installed someone on the Saudi dole — Jared Kushner collects millions in fees from the Saudis every year — in a key role for America's most sensitive and consequential foreign policy negotiations (Gaza, Ukraine), and it is largely TREATED AS A NON-STORY
