And as much as the losers on this website accuse me of dooming, I don’t think the fascist have anywhere close to the power for an organized suppression by intimidation and violence! The greater threat is being negotiated into an illegitimate power sharing agreement with them by our own opposition!

There's no remotely legal way to do something like this and practically speaking our decentralized election administration makes it very difficult to fuck with the process. But that doesn't mean he won't try.
Trump says a lot of deranged shit, but, per this Reuters article — and the threats of invoking the Insurrection Act in Minnesota this morning — he is very clearly exploring how to cancel the midterms.

at the end of the day, the problem is very simple and has been unchanged for a long time. if people recognized reality, they would have to do something about it.

It will split the Republican Party, cost them the Senate, and no annexation measure will pass Congress.

US troops will be stranded there until the next POTUS withdraws them. NATO will be dead, but Trump will have gotten nothing for the effort.

It will be a catastrophe for both him and the nation.
If Trump invades Greenland, the Europeans won't fight back, Republicans will defend it, Democrats will issue statements, there will be protests, and most Americans will disapprove of it enough to earn Democrats a bit more of the vote in November. Then on to the next thing.
More than an attempted coup, where a mob tried to seize Congress on live television did? There's not going to be an implosion about anything. It's either a slow slide towards oblivion where everything gets incrementally worse as people try to live normally, or a slow grind in the opposite direction.

That means their forces doing this instead of doing something better. It means they are having to plan to do this instead of doing something else. It means them thinking through scenarios where the US is an enemy, instead of thinking through scenarios where the US is an ally. These are costs *now*.

Folks in the US still like to treat the whole Greenland invasion stuff as sufficiently unserious to engage with, but it is sufficiently serious that NATO allies are actively deploying tripwire forces to deter the US. That is *already* a political and actual cost to them, and to US relationships

The Pentagon says it chose an aircraft painted in civilian colors to carry out a lethal Sept. 2 strike on an alleged drug boat in the Caribbean because the unit could be the quickest ready for the operation—not because it was trying to deceive the targets. It's still perfidy and a war crime.

Great list of the events of the last half-week, it's a whole thread, not just this tweet, but very important to add to the list that the regime is currently holding three Lakota men hostage to attempt to force the Oglala Sioux tribe to enter into an agreement with ICE
In the last 4 days:

-- Elise Slotkin says she's being criminally investigated by DOJ
-- ICE illegally goes "door to door" in Minneapolis
-- FBI raids the home of a WP journalist
-- DHS illegally arrests, detains 100+ Somalians with legal refugee status

Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"
A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.

They'll stick to an official line of not explicitly saying it, keep all the face-saving off ramps open, it can be spun as doing what he asked for. But this is an actual for-real military deployment in response to a fear of an American invasion. Soldiers to defend themselves from us, the rogue state.
Denmark is underway to move more troops to Greenland in cooperation with undisclosed allies.

Preparatory staff are in place to solve logistics for potential larger Danish forces.

Details are sparse but dr.dk reports that first plane landed 2 days ago.
