This conflict - we love our artists and musicians but don't build enough places for them to live - or teachers, firefighters, restaurant workers, grad students, or anyone else who doesn't have money! - is why I ran for council.

Want to help fix it? Let's talk!

A good story on an awful situation. Thank you to Chief Potter for working tirelessly with residents, county and OWASA to keep people safe. Thank you to Habitat for Humanity for helping keep people in their homes!

The General Assembly must act to regulate wholesaling and other predatory practices.
Really an excellent story from the N&O, by the real estate reporter whose first name is “Chantal”
Called wholesaling, it’s a murky area of real estate currently not defined or regulated under North Carolina law, and it’s on the rise.

Okay Carrboro locals and appreciators:

I have an opportunity next spring to do a letterpress broadside project, and I want to make it as Carrboro as possible.

Please share your recommendations for extremely Carrboro literature, topics, and iconic phrases.

I went home to Southeast L.A. to cover the immigration raids there. And this week I've covered the raids in my adopted home of NC. Nothing--and I mean NOTHING--will give you hope like speaking to immigrant organizers and locals fighting back.

I hope folks are paying attention. Y'all are not going to believe the amazing way that Durham is showing out to protect our neighbors.

Organizers pulled today's response together with about 12 hours notice. Tomorrow we are going to send CBP home crying.

This is really good advice (I mean, the piece in full!).

I try to do a fair amount of this already - not always successfully by any means of course, but that's ok.

Thank you Mother Jones for this profile of our work. Getting over 100 bill signed into law — including some bangers that are having big impacts — has been a deep honor. I’m grateful to my colleagues & the community coalitions we’ve worked w/ in the “Department of Getting Sh*t Done.”

This is really important.

The main thing that makes it hard to achieve integrated nature and green in cities isn’t density of buildings or density of people — it's density of cars. And the more well-designed and integrated density of people & buildings you achieve, the fewer cars you need or want.
