Article V has only been invoked once, by the U.S after 9/11 and there's a reading that if any other member were to invoke Article V now the U.S.'s response would not be assured...

The Onion has the opportunity to do the funniest thing in 71 years time.
Before anyone gets excited about this: Dilbert will not, under ANY circumstances (barring a drastic change in copyright law) be in the public domain until January 1, 2097.
was not expecting the introduction section on the dilbert wikipedia to conclude quite this brutally holy SHIT

AI people appear to have recurring alignment problems.
SCOOP: Thinking Machines has terminated its CTO, Barret Zoph, due to unethical conduct according to two sources familiar with the matter. CEO Mira Murati announced the news at an all-hands with employees today. Soumith Chintala will be taking over as CTO.

Trump carried Bucks county by 274 votes out of 400k in 2024, this dude ran on cancelling the ICE 287(g) contract, so pretty close to an "abolish ICE" platform.

He won against the incumbent by 11 percentage points, or 25,000 votes. Dem strategists are idiots.
BREAKING: Dan Ceisler, the new sheriff of Pennsylvania's Bucks County, just announced he has terminated his county's 287(g) contract with ICE.

Ceisler defeated GOP sheriff who'd joined the ICE program in November, & ran on quitting it; we reported then:
Voters Ousted This Pennsylvania Sheriff After He Signed Up to Collaborate With ICE - Bolts
A populous, swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.

I don’t know how Norwegian politicians can be on a platform filled with pictures that are illegal under Norwegian law. If they are stored in a cache on their phones… is that possession of CSAM?

look it's not that *all* northern european dudes on the internet, or northern european white dudes on the internet happen to have blissfully naive views about racism, but let's just say I'm very pleasantly surprised when one shows up and they don't

I mean they want a war, they're salivating for it, they'll use it to 'teach a lesson' about amongst other things U.S. dominance

Gotta admit I'm somewhat surprised there isn't a decentralized effort to take pics of ICE agents, I can only imagine doing so must be some sort of horrific act of domestic terrorism
January 14, 2026 at 4:44 PM
otoh a central publicly available database of ICE agents? Doesn't need QR codes but sure

Know what's even better? Surveillance
Putting QR codes on ICE agents will only lead to the ICE website being as terrible as a restaurant website

I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

Please read this 🧵 (starts above this post) & then please consider calling your electeds today to ask them these questions. Then follow up next week to see if they have the answers for you, and if any of it has changed. Every week. Keep this in their sights.

Questions on my mind:
- What's the list of countries now accepting people from the US?
- How many people has each country accepted? Are they imprisoned once there?
- What's the stated capacity for each country and how much of that capacity remains?
- What happens when they reach that capacity?

RIP Claudette Colvin, one of several women arrested for not giving up their seats on buses before Rosa Parks

But Rosa was prettier, more light skinned, more respectable, and leaders in the Civil Rights Movement thought she would make a better "face" for the movement.

I've been commissioned to write a piece about games based on real places that changed peoples' perception of that place or had some kind of local impact - are you a dev who made a game like this? Or are you a player who has a story about a game that inspired you to visit somewhere? Let me know!
