I live here....the cops are attacking and brutalizing us alongside ICE. They have done absolutely nothing to combat ICE, they are protecting them. The hostility isn't about care for the people. It's an ego thing/wanting to be the top authority. They are on the same side.

Insurrectionary feminist anarchism is such a secure home for me in a way mass movement focused anarchism never could be because it starts with acceptance that the most crucial conflicts are and will remain profoundly asymmetric, then challenges one to develop a principled response from that point.

This can only make sense coming from a person who has not lost someone (or parts of themselves) to the violence of imprisonment or police brutality. The willing invitation of surveillance onto a person you do not know, because they protest in ways you disagree with, is inherently violent.
If random masked men are setting fires in your community, I think you should feel free to film them. Especially if dozens of other people and several national news crews are filming them. They are not "allies," they're arsonists. Grow up.

This is the stuff that marks someone as a danger.

Not even just that he intends to sneak back into an organizing space where he’s been told that he’s unwanted; the need to publicly brag about it, and make sure everyone knows.

You cannot do collaborative work with someone who only centers himself.

Since the introduction of body cams, the annual number of murders by police *has gone up*. They are not tools for preventing wrongdoing by police, and they aren't even tools for later accountability. They are tools for mass surveillance, full stop.

Canadians horrified by what ICE is doing should realize the RCMP uses the same tactics domestically against Indigenous people and yet barely anyone speaks up.

Journalists have been arrested just for trying to cover it
Carol Linnitt, co-founder and editor-in-chief, provides an update on The Narwhal’s court case against the RCMP. Amber Bracken finished cross-examination late Jan. 28. It took more than 12 hours.

im thinking about this gotcha thru a 'Situationist' lens where the Spectacle maintains that all that is visible is good and all that is good is visible, so therefore resistance to the visible is seen as illogical to the American Right (the apogee of the power of the Spectacle over social life.)
Joe Rogan is so stupid he thinks it’s a gotcha that Minnesota protests are “coordinated” and that some activists message each other on Signal

Alberta has been quietly removing books from school libraries, but not listing which ones. Turns out most titles have themes related to 2SLGBTQ+ people

A great scoop by @readtheorchard.org

Here are the secret lists of banned books from Alberta's 2 largest school boards
The Calgary Board of Education removed 42 books from its libraries and the Edmonton Public School Board removed 33 in response to an order from Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides.

I don't think we are using "imperial boomerang" correctly.
Controversial take, perhaps but here is why.

I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.

And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.”

Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

Its usually not grown locally either, idk about Minnesota, but around me most farmers grow canola for export, i would imagine in MN its soy bean. Farmers are capitalists make no mistake, they are looking for the highest return on their investment
I need us smug city people to chill out a little bit on thinking that we actually prop up rural areas. Where do you think all your food comes from? It's not grown in urban parking lots
Another critical piece of missing context in this story: tax dollars flow from the MSP metro to rural Minnesota. People in the city subsidize the lifestyles of people living in the country minnesotareformer.com/2023/12/04/t...

Unfortunately, this is the part where I remind people that Black 10th graders get beat up by cops every day.

This is the part where I remind people about modern civil asset forfeiture, where US police steal more value from people (mostly Black) than every form of theft other than wage theft.
It is in no way “law enforcement” to beat up an American 10th grader and steal and sell his possessions.
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.
